What's your favorite moment of "he had it coming" football violence?
You know, somebody transgresses and retribution is swift and sure.

My favorite is Super Bowl X. The Freakin' Dallas Cowboys having jobbed the (my) great and glorious Vikes out of what would have been four straight Super Bowl losses (props to the Buffalo Bills!) are playin' the Freakin' Steelers.

Roy Gerela misses a kick and douchbag Cowboy Safety Cliff Harris comes over and pats him on the head Benny Hill style. Middle linebacker and BMF Jack Lambert just so happens to play on the kick team offense and witnesses this up close and personal.

He grabs Harris and slams him to the ground like a rag doll. Beautiful.

I'll never forget that.

What's your favorite act of vengeance?

1. No NFL, but I do have 2 favorite NHL moments
Ron Hextal(sp) comes out of the goal and SLAMS Chelios from behind -- this after Chelios almost killed Brian Propp.

The other is also goalie related -- Mike Liut (quiet, great goaly with the Hartford Whalers) flies out of the goal when two Whalers are being beaten up and clotheslines them both. I miss my Whalers.

3. "Oh my God they killed Don Bebee!!!!"
Not that I have anything against Bebee (Buffalo) it was just a golden moment of hilarity when I yelled that out. It is LEGEND in my circle of friends.

5. Bill Grammatica . . .

jumps around ridiculously celebrating a meaningless field goal in a meaningless game on a 6-10 team, and tears his ACL.

7. I was there.....
...and it was one of the greatest moments I've had as a Giant fan in the last 10 years.

Add to that Frerotte's head butt leading to a broken neck (also against the Giants) and the football gods don't treat us too shabbily.

23. martin grammatica pulled the same lame celebratory
hopping around after an equally meaningless FG, and on the ensuing kickoff, someone (on the saints, IIRC) planted his ass. he was a tad more subdued for the rest of that game, at any rate.

it turns out that there's another grammtica out there, santiago, who played for South Florida. I think he graduated this year, but I could be wrong.

8. I am trying to remember
but there was a former Dallas player who went to SF, and then scored against Dallas, and then macked it up on the Dallas star in the center of the field. Emmit Smith came out of nowhere and blasted him off the star, then scored a touchdown, and then took back the star by mocking the mack in the same way and on the same spot.

I think it was Deion.

Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 05:05 PM by BullGooseLoony
took the ball out to the star. Irvin did it, then Owens mocked him. And someone slammed him. LOL

12. As others have said...that was TO.
Edited on Mon Jan-24-05 05:59 PM by rinsd
Actually TO did that TWICE in that game. The 2nd time a Dallas player clocked him from behind(maybe Woodson?). Then Emmitt, after scoring, ran out to the star and slammed the ball down.

I think in a game this year he did the stance again(hey look at me God) on the little star of the endzone in Dallas.

Personally I loved it. Fuck the Cowboys and the pretension that they are God's favorite team.

It's also the reason I loved Randy Moss doing the moon, once I found out its a mini tradition of Green Bay fans, he actually went up a couple of notches in my book.

13. Nietschke (sp?) spearing the idiot fan
who ran out onto the field in Green Bay sometime back in the 1960's.

I would love to have seen Moss try to pull his pants-down bullshit with that psychotic son of a bitch on the field.

14. Mike Curtis of the BALTIMORE Colts"He shouldn't have been out on the field
Curits really wiped a guy out who ran on the field.

One of the meanest players in NFL -he later said it was just show business.

A teammate once remarked that when Curtis rides the team bus to the stadium on game day, he looks out the window "hating the grass".

Doling out all that punishment in the real deal and having Burt Reynolds put the ultimate "He had it coming" act(s) of vengeance on him in The Longest Yard.

Someone outta put a couple of tight spirals into the crotch of everybody on the upcoming remake of that movie. And an additional one for Sandler. Maybe he'll stop breathing.
