Collusion between the Colts and Titans last weekend?
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22487240/

Did Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans coaches have an under-the-table agreement at the end of last Sunday's game?

Tennessee quarterback Kerry Collins said on WFAN Radio on Thursday that the Titans kneeled at the end of the game Sunday because they knew the Colts wouldn't call a timeout.

With Tennessee leading 16-10 and needing a victory to make the playoffs, the Titans had originally called a running play, Collins said. But the team changed to a kneeldown when he was told over his headset that the Colts wouldn't call a timeout, which would have possibly forced the Titans to punt with less than 20 seconds left in the game, Collins said.

"Apparently there was some communication between Jeff (Fisher) and Tony (Dungy)," Collins said on WFAN.

1. Dungy should have called the timeout.
It wouldn't make a difference 99.9% of the time, but you never know.

2. I think Dungy had made it pretty clear that they were not
playing for anything, and the game really meant nothing to them. Whether or not Dungy communicated to Fisher, he still would not have called a time-out and risk an unnecessary injury.

4. the Colts should be, at the very least
given a large fine. This was a game that had playoff implications and, from the top down, they don't even try to win. This damages the image of the league just as much as 'spygate' there were 75000 people who paid money to watch football, not a fixed game. You are required, under league rules to 'attempt to won every game' the colts didn't do that.

It was up to the Cleveland Browns to take care of their own business. There is almost NO team who is locked into a playoff position that plays their starters much in the last game. Not the Colts, not nobody. Jeez!
If the Browns wanted to be in the playoffs, then they should have TAKEN CARE OF BUSINESS!!

7. so the rules don't matter?
by the way, I am not a browns fan, so I have no axe to grind there. And hey, the giants played hard in a meaningless game, the cowboys at least put up a half a game, the packers played, the colts played their starters for two series. That's a preseason game. The rule clearly states that teams must make a good faith effort to win each and every game, the colts didn't do that. Jacksonville got an extra pre- season game, one that meant something. I didn't write the rules, but is it disappointing, as a fan, that the browns has to play 16 meaningful games, while jax only had 15? In a sixteen game season, being gifted what was basically a free win is ridiculously unfair, just the way it is.

6. Tonight during the Steelers-Jags game, my husband said,
"They're going to go for two." And he was right! Amazingly, there was no phone call from the Jags coach informing him of this! ;)

I think the assertion is ridiculous and either Collins was joking or he isn't very bright.
