3. Haha. Vikings no longer have the biggest choke job in NFC Championship history.
What a great day.

15. No, they still have it

1998 Minnesota Vikings
Record: 15-1, lost NFC championship game 30-27 to Falcons

What went right: Minnesota scored 556 points that year, an NFL record until the Patriots scored 589 this season. Randall Cunningham enjoyed the best season of his career with a 106.0 passer rating, and Robert Smith racked up 1,478 yards from scrimmage. Cris Carter and rookie Randy Moss teamed up for 2,324 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns.

What happened in playoffs: The Vikings cruised past Arizona in the divisional round before losing to the surprising Falcons. Minnesota kicker Gary Anderson, who made his first 39 field goals of the season, missed a 38-yarder near the end of regulation, allowing Atlanta to win in overtime. So unexpected was Atlanta's victory that the Miami Herald announced "Denver Broncos vs. Minnesota Vikings" across the top of an early edition of its Sunday paper.

Marty factor: Four. The Falcons did go 14-2 behind Jamal Anderson, but how did a team with Cunningham, Smith, Moss and Carter lose at home?

5. Sorry but that was a horrifically played game
the weather clearly had an effect-no one wanted to hit the ground or get off their feet. I understand that having played on some frozen fields when I was in the Army (ever footprint freezes as is pointy parts and all). Favre had three WTF throws including the one that cost them the game.

Bad bad football.

6. I think the Giants were more ready for the cold than the Packers were.
Best example was Manning vs. Favre. Brett had a coverup for his head, neck, and lower face. He even had a heating packet that he stuck in front of his mouth/nose to stay warm.

Manning didn't wear anything on his neck or face, wore a glove on his non-throwing hand, and threw a great game. Gotta give him props. Plus it seemed like a lot more Giants were in short sleeves. BRRR!

7. Rarely does the equipment really make any difference
I noticed the lack of cover for Mannings neck but ....well I don't really want to say it.... were there a shortbus stop outside the family home. Seriously take a look at Peyton and him.

9. I still can't keep up with whatz a reception these daze.
End of the first half Plaxico catches with both hands away from his body, pulls both hands with ball to his chest, swaps to a single-handed grip, contacts the ground, touched by a defensive player, play over and goal to go on the two!.? Not.

10. Rule is somewhat like this:
If, in the process of making a catch, the receiver is falling down, he must maintain control of the ball all the way to the ground. In that case, the ball squirted out as he hit the ground, so it was no catch. Sweet try though. He had such a monster game otherwise, it can probably be overlooked!

12. I Was There & Had Bad Vibes Before The Game
when I found out we had the same crew as the Pack/Washington game, where the Skins were given to TDs, and the official apologized after the game, probably just to rub it in our faces & get away with it. Apologies are overrated.
The Giants played a great game though, and are the better team. Also, their fans were great. There was a guy on the bus I took to the game, who drove 1200 miles from New York to his first Packer game (He was a Packer fan)I hope they beat the Cheatriots. Go Giants!

14. The 'the ground can't cause a fumble' rule doesn't seem to apply to receivers any more. nt
