Poll question: Should trumad have to
Edited on Wed Jan-23-08 12:35 AM by cboy4
fly the Patriots avatar until the first pre-season game if New England wins the Super Bowl?

For some reason, trumad thinks he only has to showcase the Patriots avatar until the end of the month! :wtf:

Here's the bet: (Read posts 5 & 7) http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=215x62945

"If the Pats do go 19-0, you rock the Pats avatar until the first pre-season game.

If the Pats fail, I'll rock the 'Phins avatar until the first pre-season game.

Mmm?

"Deal"

What is going on in the sports forum? When you make a bet, you have to abide by it.

So fine, we'll take a vote.

2. Me and Pitt proposed a couple of bets during the season...
This was one of them.

I'll tell you what.... If Pitt, who I made the bet with, not you Cboy.... wants me to fly it until preseason, I will....

So let's let Will Pitt decide...instead of some wanker who continues to change team loyalties as they climb in the playoffs.

4. I didn't think we sealed the deal on the bet.
We talked back and forth, but I don't recall a "You're on" moment.

Pretty cool of you to hang the Pats avatar up for the week, in my humble o. You didn't have to.

Now, if you want to talk about a Super Bowl bet...

;)

:toast:

If your Pat's lose the SB, they're aint no way I'm going close to you for a week.

Oh--and thanks for clearing up this bet thing..... now maybe Cboy will focus his concern on which team he'll support next season.

10. Of course you sealed the bet Will.

trumad the cheater said "deal."

And you said okee-dokee

Not only that, you posted the avatars that are the bet.

And you posted a "toast" smiley.

Does the deal need to be signed in blood or something?

12. Yeah, I remember that
Edited on Thu Jan-24-08 01:14 AM by WilliamPitt
But there was a "Wait a minute" reply from trumad the next day about me putting an asterisk as my avatar instead of the 'Phins log if I lose. He called it the "real bet" here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=215&topic_id=64087

My response:

We never agreed on terms, so no bet.

9. Trumad, all you need now is to have the Supreme Court
stop the vote and declare you the winner.

Don't mind the fact that three times as many people feel you should keep your word.

6. The Pats are still playing and you post about HONOR
Thats funny!!

Fuck the bet. Fuck right and wrong. Just do whatever the hell you want to do. Will there be any consequences? I'm currently wondering what cheating action will result in a NASCAR championship next season.

$500,000 fine.

$250,000 fine.

First round draft pick denied.

Permement stain on an otherwise extraordinary season.

Boss, I respect you right down to the ground...but you're totally full of bullshit on this, and you have been for a while now. Frankly, you're hysterical in your outrageousness. I know you're an Eagles fan, but this is beyond silly.

Coping skills, good sir, seem to be absent in your approach to the matter. Besides, Philly is still going to suck next year, so you might as well start dealing with all this while you still have seven months to get ready.

There were consequences, and they were unprecedented in their severity as far as NFL punishments go. Just because you want the Patriots destroyed and their stadium burned down (you can admit it), just because you reeeeeeeeeeeeeally mean it, doesn't make you right. In fact, it makes you kind of insane.

8. Any *real* consequences?
$500,000 fine.

Pittance. Less than 1/2 of 1% of the 2007 salary cap.

$250,000 fine.

Ditto. Kraft gave him an extension that most experts guess pays him at least $6-$8 million this year.

First round draft pick denied.

But as luck would have it, they picked up a much higher draft pick due to a trade. So they lose the #31 or #32 overall pick. If Belichick's cheating won them a Super Bowl or two, that's a damn good trade for the Pats.

Permement stain on an otherwise extraordinary season.

Who talks about it anymore? Pats fans such as yourself poo-poo it any time the topic comes up. "Every team does it." "The tape was confiscated at the Jets game, it couldn't have helped them." "You're a whiner and a crybaby and conspiracy nut." Yada yada yada.

Haven't heard any chatter about it on ESPN or any of the major sports sites, other than a passing reference to "camera gate" which is generally part of a joke.

There were no significant consequences for Belichick or the Pats. None.

11. My objection has nothing to do with the Patriots or Bellichick
it has everything to do with right and wrong and integrity. I could not possibly care less about which team is cheating. I don't want the stadium burnt down. Frankly you are hysterical in your support of a cheater. Your objections to my support of integrity apparently deal with your love of a team and have blinded you. If the Eagles do good or bad next year is fine with me as long as they do so without chicanery. I don't want the Patriots destroyed. I want there to be consequences for the actions of cheaters. Chump change fines do not result in consequences. And chump change fines have not resulted in consequences.

The only way someone in athletics is punished is if they lie to congress and then they are punished for something other then what they did in their sport.

I'm comfortable in my support of integrity Will Pitt. I'm not insane. I do not hate the Patriots. And I look forward to future cheating by others who have loaded paychecks because they know their actions will not be averted by those in authority. The precedent has been set. A precedent which you wholeheartedly support.
