Why I have to root for the Patriots.
Terrell Owens. I hate him and the hot dog mentality he represents.

I actually can't stand that the media is kissing Patriot ass all this week.

They aren't that good. Only two players in the Pro Bowl. And the refs are their friends. And Tom Brady sat next to Pickles.

I just hate the Eagles more because of TO.

1. I'm torn - I'm a big Brady fan
but I can't stand T.O. (Mitch Albom calls him "Totally Obnoxious") either. However, I don't think he'll be much of a factor. I don't think he's completely better yet. I would like McNabb to win (without T.O. if possible) just to show Limbaugh. Either way, both teams are from blue states so it's all good.

4. hate on, bro
it does wonders for your heart!

/Go Eagles.

p.s. Complain to me about TO when one of the following happens: a.) his play doesn't back up his talk or b.) he gets popped for DUI, drugs, wife beating, murder, brawling with cops, etc. Until then, he's just a succesful extrovert, hence all the jealous haters.

8. He didn't call Garcia gay...look it up.
He said "when i smell a rat." etc. Do your homework.

Besides, he's free to say what he wants. Garcia is a drunk driving whiner. TO is clean as a whistle. You're just jealous. If TO were on the Steelers, you'd be smoking his hog like you were his personal barbeque chef.

15. I don't know what he meant, and I don't care.
I don't care what most people say. What they DO however is a different story. TO does a lot.

Plax does very little. I can understand why folks would be down on him. Yeah, he's big. That's about it. I'd get him off my team if I were Cower.

Why are you down on the Bus tho? I think he's fantstic. Smart, genuine guy, incredible football player....

14. to be fair, the Eagles have been no less a team working as one
than have the Patriots. The reason people say that is that the Eagles have four bona fide Superstars in McNabb, Owens, Kearse, and Dawkins. So they focus on that and forget people like Rayburn, Parry, Adams, G.Lewis, Hicks, Reed, etc.

Both teams are excellent examples of team play. I can't wait to see them have at it.

9. "They aren't that good."
Let me preface this with a statement: I'm not a huge Patriots fan.

That being said, no one is consistently underestimated more than the Patriots. Putting only two players in the Pro Bowl means nothing - it means that they're a good *team* and not just a few good players who stand out. Winning 2 SBs in 3 years and potentially 3 out of 4 is impressive, particularly in these free agency days.

Like it or not, they *are* that good.

10. I'm a Native Philly Boy in Maine!
I have to root for the IGGLES since I was younger than my son the last time they won the (then) NFL Championship.

Once the Iggles win (be it this year or in the future), I'll probably fully transfer my loyalty to New England Teams.

13. TO may back up what he says
But I can't stand his hotdogging either. I also think his shameless showboating about coming back for the Super Bowl is unfair to his teammates, like Donovan McNabb who is outstanding. This morning I read that TO said that God has cleared him to play even though his doctor hasn't.

Patriots all the way.

16. Hate? Get a life.
How can you have enough time and energy to hate a football player?

TO dances in the endzone. Thats it. Only after TDs. That is it.

Its the guys who get up and strut after making a first down, or do a sack dance when their team is down by 3 scores, those guys are annoying.

TO backs up his words, and saves his celebrations for the endzone. I thought he was hilarious when he pulled out the sharpie, I cheered him when danced on the cowboys star.

Can't wait to see him shove it down the Patriots throats! I wonder what special dance he has prepared...

Terrell Owens. I hate him and the hot dog mentality he represents.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I actually can't stand that the media is kissing Patriot ass all this week.

That's what happens when you win a lot.

They aren't that good. Only two players in the Pro Bowl. And the refs are their friends. And Tom Brady sat next to Pickles.

They are undefeated in the playoffs since 2001. They hold the current record for most consecutive wins while in the AFC (read: the much stronger conference). They have won two of the last three Super Bowls. The Pro Bowl is a popularity contest, and consider that the Eagles have so many pro-bowlers because the rest of the NFC sucks so bad it bends light. The Pats are a team, not a confab of superstars, and teams don't make the pro bowl. The refs thing is sour grapes, pure and simple. Brady supported Kerry, and went to the SOTU to be the poster child for the push to get steroids out of sports, perhaps the only Bush policy initiative I am in 100% alignment with.

What is the Steelers record for the last three years? How many Super Bowls have they won in the last three years? What is their playoff record? Hint: It was the Pats who shut the Steelers down in the playoffs in 2001 and 2005.

Right about now, you're dusting off your championship banners from the Carter administration, as well you should. But the Pats are good, Brady is good, and this is their time. It'll pass sooner or later - hell, it might be over on Sunday - but in the interim, I think you still need to bone up on your coping skills.

I'm going to put you in the same slot with Magic Rat and ask you not to root for the Pats on Sunday, because like Rat, everyone you root for loses. Be an Eagles supporter. Please.

:P

32. Not really
I got nervous before the Indy game, and nervous before the Steeler game. Both times, my nervousness was unwarranted. My team held the best offense in the game to 3 points, and then put up a 41 spot on the best defense while crash-stopping their vaunted running game. Both gamaes were over by halftime.

So I'm actually calmly confident this time. There's a reason I came up with the bunny suit bet. I was, and remain, solidly confident that I won't be the one wearing it.

P.S. Baseball isn't football. Your mojo is in the wrong sport.

After bell bottoms.

December 23, 1972.

Roberto Clemente lived another 8 days.

The Steelers lost the next week to Miami who went 17-0.

Any more questions?
