Chicago Bulls Win NBA Draft Lottery
Move up from the No. 9 spot to the No. 1 spot with a chance to take either PG Derrick Rose or PF Michael Beasley.

wow. good for them.

I was hoping my Nets, at the No. 10 spot, would move up, but they finished one game better than the Bulls in the standings and thus, insured their fate as picking the No. 10 spot.

The Heat finished second in the draft spotting, the Timberwolves third.

1. I guess the Knicks getting number one would be too obvious.
So give it to the next biggest franchise in the lottery.

BTW, the Bulls had a 1.4% chance. No, not 14%, one point four percent.

2. I'm glad the Heat pick second
I prefer Beasley to Rose but the consensus here was Miami would take Rose at #1. I have no idea what Chicago is expected to do.

Theoretical huge gap between top two and the third spot.

7. Uh, Smush Parker didn't quite work out
That was Riley's brainstorm last offseason, point guard for cheap.

No, Miami is a mess at the point. Picking Rose was such a given it seems like Riley is whining now, talking about trading the Beasley pick for a quick fix. Keep in mind Riley is building a huge home in Southern California and plans to retire there in a few years. He may prefer a blockbuster trade and a stab at a title run, than a wait for Beasley to bloom and be surrounded by similar talent. Miami already lacks a 2009 #1, as part of the pathetic trade for Rickey Davis.

The Heat have scoring punch at forward with Marion and Haslem. Still, I prefer Beasley and a long term focus. He's as fluid and clever in the paint as any young player in years.

3. I know why they do the lottery but it doesn't seem right
that the worst team on paper doesn't get the pick.

Not that I think Miami needs another ring so soon, but for a borderline playoff team like Chicago to grab it .. this just seems like highway robbery.

4. If you think teams tanking now is bad, it'd be a jillion times worse under your suggestion.

6. that's the problem
'on paper' doesn't make it actually the worst team. it might be bad coaching situation, or a cap-clearing year. you can fairly easily tank a year in the NBA and be halfway decent the next year with the right free agents. (see: celtics, boston.)
