Amelie Mausremo
I thought Amelie Mausremo announced years ago that she was retiring from women's tennis. Do I have her confused with some other female tennis star. I know Justine Henin retired from tennis this year so I do not have Mausremo confused with her. I thought that a few years ago when Mausresmo won a grand slam (I think Wimbeldon) she said she was retiring. If Mausremo does not have a grand slam then I am actually confusing her with some other female tennis player. Who was the tennis player that was beating Justine Henin when Henin quit during the match saying she was injuried?

1. You might be confusing her with Kim Clijsters

The Belgian player who retired about a year before Henin.

I can't think of anyone else. Mauresmo does have grand slam titles, an Australian and Wimbledon. She defeated Henin in both finals. It was Henin who quit very suddenly and to considerable ridicule, against Mauresmo in the Australian final.

2. Mauresmo considered retirement 6 months ago
After winning Wimbledon and the Australian Open and being ranked No. 1 in the world on 2006, she won only one event in 2007 and slipped into the 30s in the rankings.

She is now back up to No. 29 in the world.

3. It was Mauresemo who was beating Justine in the Aussie final when Justine
quit and said she was injured. Load of shit. Fortunately, Amelie beat Justine in the Wimbledon final that year so she had 2 majors, and proved she was the best that year, despite Justine's immature antics.

No, I don't think Amelie ever said she was retiring.
