I'm sure this will get banned to the West Mall though it's not really a discussion of politics so much as an interesting correlation (not implying cause and effect) between the on field results of the Texas-OU series and the presidency. I got to thinking about how bad we've done, going back these 8 years of Bush to his first election and then thought about the prior 8 years back to the first Clinton election. Out of curiosity I tracked it further back and found a remarkable correlation that the years during a Democratic president, Texas does much better in this series and the years of a Republican president lean to OU.
As I indicated above I put the election year into the incoming president's category since it made the transition points an even numbered year and easier for me to track, but it doesn't make much difference if you put the election year with the lame duck president.
Anyway here are the results. If we go all the way back to 1932 our record under Republican presidents is 13-22-1 against OU while under Democratic presidents we are 27-10-3 against them. That's a stunningly huge difference for something that is mere coincidence. And if you don't want to go back that far it doesn't make much difference how recently you start looking. The results are pretty much the same because it's not a pattern that results just from one or two remarable streaks under a couple of particular presidents, but in fact holds true under almost every president.
For the 6 Republican presidents since 1932 we had a winning record against OU during only one of them (Bush Sr.). Even more remarkable is that over the 6 Democratic presidents since 1932 we have had a winning record against OU during every one of them. The breakdown by president is below. It's complicated a bit by mid-term deaths and resignations, but that doesn't affect the overall results since the political party in office didn't change from those events.

The things that's amazing about this to me is how the dynamics of the Texas-OU series on the field have shifted back and forth in concert with the dynamics of presidential politics over a long period of time without any actual relationship.
