A Boston sportscasting legend who named himself the Great Gamere is now called “a danger to the community” by federal prosecutors who busted him yesterday on child pornography charges.
The allegations against former “Candlepins for Cash” host Bob Gamere, 69, of Brookline are “extremely, extremely disturbing and involve very young children,” assistant U.S. Attorney Dana Gershengorn said yesterday.
At his arraignment in U.S. District Court, Gamere pleaded not guilty to a federal indictment charging him with transportation and possession of child porn.
Magistrate Judge Leo T. Sorokin ordered the one-time Channel 7 sports anchor and New York Yankees play-by-play announcer locked down under house arrest with a GPS anklet, forbidding him to answer the door for trick-or-treaters or even visit his own grandchildren unless supervised by an adult.
