First really predictable headline of 2009: Favre needed benching, says Thomas Jones
In other words, "they should have told him to shut the fuck up, sit down, and give me the damn ball." If they had done that, we might well be talking about the AFC East champion New York Jets, and their resurgent starting QB Kellen Clemons, at least until he falls flat on his face again next year.

Days after the Jets' 1-4 finish left them out of the playoffs and helped trigger Eric Mangini's firing as coach, running back Thomas Jones blasted Favre's final-game performance and seemed to suggest the QB's play -- nine interceptions and only two touchdown passes in the final five games -- called for his benching.

"We're a team and we win together ... but at the same time, you can't turn the ball over and expect to win," Jones said in an interview Tuesday with New York Hot 97 FM. Favre threw three interceptions in the Jets' season-ending 24-17 loss to Miami that clinched the AFC East for the Dolphins.

"The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that's just reality," Jones told the radio station. "If I were to sit here and say, 'Oh, man, it's OK,' that's not reality. ... I don't like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn't like it.

"If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game," Jones told Hot 97 FM. "You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not ."

1. You know, I used to like and respect Favre.
No more. He really has tarnished his legacy this year, IMHO.

5. He's done that for the last three or four years.
Any other player in any other sport would have gotten absolutely brutalized if they tried to play the same media games as Favre has with his "Aw-shucks-I-think-I-might-retire" bullshit. Why they give him such a long leash, I don't know - but he's surely reached the end. Right?

7. Hopefully
Yeah the whole should I stay or go drama for the last few years has been annoying..But to unretire basically right before training camp when everything was set and expect the Packers to just grovel at hs feet was a bit much for me.

2. Its worse than that, IMO
Now he's playing this "should I stay or should I go" game (again) and NO COACH WANTS TO JOIN THE JETS WITH FAVRE ON THE SQUAD.

His legacy is shit, he is ruining their next seasons to come!

6. I love watching Favre.
I can't believe he continued to play with a torn biceps tendon.
