Despite devastating Ice Storm, SEC basketball goes on
We all know that SEC schools only get the perfect tropical weather many dream of, however in must be a mystery of the universe an ice storm whacked parts of Arkansas including Fayetteville. Despite the frozen tundra like weather found only in the northern part of our country the Hogs and Crimson Tide got together to play a little game last night.

Wow, inclement weather in the south. Just unbelieveable.

1. One must assume the Crimson Tide made it to Ark, before the storm hit and there
were no fans in the arena.

2. I don't know when Alabama got there
but the Arena was packed. It was on ESPN2 last night.

3. Interestingly, if we had an ice storm here before a game,
no one would show up. People are morans when it comes to weather here.

4. I'm familiar with the geography
many students live within walking distance of Bud Walton Arena but there were many non students in attendance. They got the roads cleared up fairly well since the storm hit. I remember those freaking ice storms which usually occur in late January, early February when we lived there back in the 70's. Awful freaking hard on electric lines.

5. Did you have any ice from the storm down in Mississippi??
School's were cancelled for a couple of days here, but no power outages.

6. No
we are way south although it is 35 degrees right now. Northern Mississippi got some of the nasty stuff. We got a nice snow fall on 11 December. Made for some great photo ops in New Orleans.

7. Do they play basketball outside in the SEC?
Edited on Fri Jan-30-09 03:08 PM by 1gobluedem
I must have missed that. :D

I don't think they should have played though, having fans risk their lives on icy roads isn't good no matter what part of the country you're in.

8. Meanwhile, myself and 15,000 others have no power in Madison Co., Kentucky
About the same number in Fayette County, where Rupp arena is. Thousands more around Louisville, but the arena there has power too.

Glad our priorities are straight in SEC country.

9. You know, BOSS, if it wasn't for my family, Little Rock and Arkansas
probably would not exist.

Just sayin' from a northerner!
