Ex-girlfriend's lawsuit claims Alomar has AIDS

Former Toronto Blue Jay standout Roberto Alomar has been accused in an ex-girlfriend's lawsuit of having unprotected sex even though he had full-blown AIDS.

The New York Daily News first reported the allegations, which haven't been proven in a court of law, on Wednesday.

In papers filed with state and federal courts, 31-year-old Ilya Dall said Alomar had been told of his status in February 2006.

Alomar, 41, retired from baseball in 2005 over back troubles, according to his website.

Alomar's lawyer Charles Bach wouldn't tell the Daily News whether or not his client was HIV-positive.

"We believe this is a totally frivolous lawsuit. These allegations are baseless," Bach said. "He's healthy and would like to keep his health status private. We'll do our talking in court." ..............(more)

Could his HIV-positive status be why he dropped off at the end of his career???

Unless the ump had an open wound in his face.

ironically another umpire said that the ump that was spat on should get an HIV test just after the incident.
