Florida Gators offensive lineman Carl Johnson arrested

By BEN VOLIN

Palm Beach Post Staff Writer

Monday, February 16, 2009

GAINESVILLE — Florida sophomore Carl Johnson, expected to be a starting offensive tackle for the Gators this fall, was arrested Monday for violating a temporary restraining order one week after it was issued, according to a University of Florida Police report.

The charge is a first-degree misdemeanor for contempt of court, and bail has not been set. Johnson, 21, was still in jail as of Monday evening.

Johnson is the third Gator football player arrested since November. A Florida spokesman said the school is reviewing the matter and that head coach Urban Meyer is out of the country and unavailable for comment.

According to the arrest report, Johnson was served a temporary injunction on Feb. 9 for protection against sexual violence, although no details are given about the original incident.

On Monday, UF police said Johnson knowingly violated the injunction when he sat on a campus bus across the aisle from his petitioner, who was 3 feet away.

The report said Johnson had four opportunities to get off the bus, but Johnson waited to exit the bus until the petitioner did.

The petitioner and another witness contacted campus police, and Johnson was booked into county jail around 1:20 p.m.

The two other recent Gators arrests involved cornerback Jacques Rickerson, who was kicked off the team after being arrested for domestic battery; and quarterback Cam Newton, who was relieved of his scholarship and transferred to a junior college after being arrested for possession of a stolen laptop computer.

Sounds like the crooked University of Florida is priming players to go play for the Cowgirls. What a disgrace.

9. Try nine UT players arrested in 38 days....
http://www.faniq.com/blog/Britton-Colquitt-The-University-of-Tennessee-Football-Team-Is-A-Drunken-Mess-Blog-6785

..snip

And it's not just Colquitt. During the past 38 days, nine UT football players have either had run-ins with police or been dismissed from the team for unspecified violations of team rules. Let's look at the highlights.

• On Jan. 11, freshman receivers Gerald Jones and Ahmad Paige were issued misdemeanor citations for marijuana possession. Freshman offensive lineman William Brimfield was also in the car, as was an Oklahoma high school football player visiting Knoxville on a recruiting trip. Brimfield and the high school student were not cited.

Fulmer disciplined Jones, Paige and Brimfield with community service at a drug rehab center and participation in police ride-alongs.

• On Jan. 21, freshman running back Daryl Vereen was arrested and charged with public intoxication and underage consumption on campus. His punishment was similar to that of Jones, Paige and Brimfield. Vereen also has a semester-long curfew.

• On Jan. 26, offensive lineman Anthony Parker was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Fulmer said he would punish Parker internally.

• On Feb. 2, Vince Faison, a walk-on defensive back, was arrested and charged with DUI. He was suspended for the first two games of the 2008 season.

• On Feb. 13, linebacker Dorian Davis and defensive back Antonio Wardlow were dismissed from the team for unspecified violations of team rules.

..snip

The Columbus Dispatch

Ohio State's Antonio Henton, with head down, listens to a lecture from Judge Amy Salerno after being charged with solicitation.

Just as Ohio State quarterback Antonio Henton appeared to be moving up the depth chart, the freshman was arrested, suspended from the team and subjected to a judge's scolding.

Henton, 20, was arrested Monday night in a prostitution sting and charged with soliciting an undercover female police officer. He pleaded not guilty yesterday morning, then posted $250 bond and was released in the afternoon. http://www.dispatch.com/live/content/football/stories/2007/09/26/osufb_henton.ART_ART_09-26-07_C1_S980VOL.html

What's done is done.

The bottom line is you told me you're an Ohio State fan and it appears your football players wear ankle bracelets out on the field, according to the long list of arrests, including one involved with a prostitute.

17. Oh, he probably is an asshole but this is going over well
in Knoxville where the 104,000+ fans who pack Neyland Stadium on Saturdays want someone busting balls to get the Vols back in the top 10 (where they belong) so they can defeat the low-life Gators, Georgia and Alabama again.

You know who else is a prick?

Bobby Knight .. but the fans in Indiana and Texas Tech, or wherever he ended up, didn't give a fuck because he was their prick.

Just FYI .. is a slip on the radio cause for sliding him over to prickhood, or had you already made up your mind. Because for me, I was like, okay, who gives a shit.

23. No, running to mommy would be alerting on your post like
your good friend TMZ or whatever her name likes to do.

I would, if I were you, work on boosting your self-esteem, so you're not forced into a situation of posting potty-mouth comments.

Confident people don't have to rely on making comments about race, sexuality, mommy jokes and other slurs that would land you in human resources at the office.

I can give you some tips on improving your confidence if you're interested.

There was a lot of sexuality and slurs in that post, that would land most people in their HR department. Well assuming they are old enough to know what that is.

That's usually the back-breaker.

Well, maybe it'll start bothering you soon.

So I'll cheer up.
