Lane Kiffin in the news...again.
How long before Tennessee cuts their losses? http://myespn.go.com/blogs/secconf/0-5-178/This-time--Lane-Kiffin-says-he-s-innocent.html Cboy, no offense
but backing this guy is a dead end deal. UT could do much better. Even if he wins, he's just another Bowden.

1. Yea but Kiffin says this latest accusation is false.
I don't know why so many people are aiming for his throat.

Are they worried about his abilities?

I for one support him completely.

3. Are you telling me that the university would pay him
Edited on Tue Mar-10-09 09:57 PM by cboy4
his $2,000,000 contract this year, and pay him the $7,500,000 he'd be entitled to buy out his contract, after one game (which they'll win), or even before the first game?

Is that what you're saying?

And for what?

EDIT: TYPO

4. The guy is pure poison, cboy.
Gotta be some clause in there, somewhere. UT doesn't put up with mediocrity, very well. Lots of alums with $$$. Too embarassing, then he's got to go. We went through it at Iowa with Alford. Believe me, the $$ were there to buy him out.

5. It's waaaaay too early to be talking about mediocrity
when he hasn't even coached a single game.

6. Coaches making the adjustment from the pros to college....
haven't done so well of late, cboy. Different world. I'll pump gas if I lose this bet.

7. Kiffin has denied the pumping gas statement, so your
punishment wouldn't make sense or be applicable.

You just need to calm down and give him a chance.

You'll see.

And if he can't win for some reason, there will be nobody making more noise than myself.

8. Going to be a lot of sub-plots in the SEC.
I hate the conference, but it will be fun to watch.

9. The biggest sub-plot is when we beat Jesus' son this season
down in Gainesville, FL.

"It Jesus' son. Praise God."

18. The last time the Dentally Impaired made an appearance at Florida Field....
The Gators hung a 59 spot on them and at that time Tennessee had a decent coach who'd won a couple of SEC's and A National champ game.

12. You're crazy if you think UT will run off Kiffin for this.
If that is all he said to a recruit, it is pretty mild for SEC recruiting.

I doubt he said it. Who pumps gas for a living anymore? It would make more sense if he said the kid would end up cooking at The Waffle House. That's where most former Gamecocks work.

14. The other stuff has been mixing it up with SEC coaches
like Meyer, Spurrier, and Saban. Tennessee fans are for the most part loving it.

Stuff like this only matters if you lose. And if you lose you're in trouble with the boosters and administration regardless of off the field behavior.

That being said, I don't know if Kiffin will be able to win big at UT or not. Time will tell. The recruiting so far (considering the late start) is looking good. The 2010 class, and what the staff does with the current players this coming year will tell a lot. Check back in Feb 2010 for a better forecast on Lane Kiffin.

16. It always is.
One thing I forgot to mention. There was some concern about accusing Urban Meyer of recruiting violations - some fans said that he would run up the score on UT this fall. Like Meyer has ever taken his foot off the gas! If the last two beat downs didn't constitute 'running up the score', I don't know what does.

17. Living in Big Ten land (Iowa City) hugo, the SEC is not top priority.
That said, as a college football fanatic I love watching the SEC. Not much D but exciting, nonetheless. Plus, I have to keep an eye on who we're going to beat in the bowl season.
