Anyone watching the ManU/Porto match?
Watching Ronaldo go down for the umpteenth time, it got me wondering if anyone keeps stats on how often he hits the deck per match.

He's a great footballer, for sure, and has a long career in front of him - still it's nice to know he'll have a whole new career in theatre once he retires . . .

6. I admit those are very nice predictions there... except the last.
But that is no excuse for repeatedly associating me with that crybaby diva eyebrow tweezing little turd. You do it just to annoy me and it works every fucking time.

12. So, you have been keeping stats on C.R.'s
miracle recoveries from ghastly, simply ghastly injuries! Yay!

3. The best quote I've ever heard on Ronaldo, from Jeremy Clarkson:
"I’m no fan of capital punishment but surely we can do better than the unimaginative procession of fines, prison and the Asbo ankle bracelet. Why not tattoo something appropriate right across a criminal’s face? Or make him walk the streets naked for a period of time? Or get him to see how far he can pull a car with ropes tied to his eyelids?

I even have some ideas for football. When Ronaldo is tapped on the ankle, he falls over clutching his face as though he’s tumbled into a vat of acid. This spoils the flow of the game and may result in an unjust free kick being awarded.

What I’d like to suggest is that any player who’s in that much pain plainly has no future and should be put down. No, really. I’d have a vet at each match, and anyone writhing around on the floor like a big girl’s blouse would be shot in the back of the head with a humane killer. This is not capital punishment. It’s kindness."

7. He detests Wayne Rooney as well, and has made that clear
on Top Gear a number of times.

8. Hah... well Rooney's no bawling primadonna but still...
he does play for Utd.

Actually, since I've seen a few more episodes of Top Gear... I have warmed up to Clarkson quite a lot. He still annoys me sometimes... but mostly he makes me laugh. :)

11. The match shows the difference between Man U and Liverpool/Chelsea.
United went into a tough environment knowing they had to win. They got one early, and didn't totally sit on the lead, but did what they had to do to shut the game down.

Chelsea had a 3-1 advantage going into their home tie, and decided they were not going past midfield with the ball under any circumstances until Liverpool got the world's most predictable 2 goal lead. Then Liverpool got cocky, bombed forward, and got pinged back, and it just went back and forth like that until the game ended. Exciting, but not particularly effective.

13. It pains me to say it, but Ronaldo's goal was sublime
I speak as a Ronaldo-loathing United supporter of 30 years standing/falling over. A rare breed. :-)

14. It pains me more . . . but I agree.
It was lovely. The remainder of his 'performance' not so much.

15. The funniest thing was...
...he was getting a really hard time from the crowd, them being Porto people and him being a Sporting Lisbon old-boy, so when he got on the ball that time the boos rose....and as his shot got closer and closer to the back of the net they started fading, until there was a deafening silence. It cracked me up. They'll probably know not to boo him next time, it just puts an extra 50 mph in to his shots. :-)

for Porto - but that's because I pretty consistently root for the underdogs (note my avatar :) )

17. Agreed but no player is like the great Giggsy
If all players had the loyalty of a Ryan Giggs the football world would be a better place. But a man (or woman) with the character of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, and even the 20LEGEND Ole are a rare bread.

Over the years I come to accept Ronaldo is not the type of player I enjoy....but I welcome every goal he scores for my beloved club. I hope Tosic, Anderson and some of the other young lads can step it up another notch and maybe just maybe we will be OK when Ronaldo leaves.

That #7 kit has been worn by so many greats...all that we thought were unable to replace...but each time we do just fine finding a new #7.

I must admit the handful of times I gone to Old Trafford, that boy Ronaldo impresses the hell out of me.

18. I hate when he does that.
I don't want to enjoy him scoring goals, ever.

20. better not watch the CL semis then
Cuz really who on the Gunners is going to hold Ronaldo in check? Not saying MUFC will walk all over the Gunners, but players like Ronaldo relish playing Arsenal b/c the game is set up for players like Ronaldo to run and have the space. It is why so many think the two-legged tie will be wide open...however, I only need to remind folks of MUFC-Barca last term. SAF will put five in the middle and shut the game down to a slow, tactical, defensive battle. Nobody has to score lots of goals. A 1-0 at home and a 1-1 at Arsenal see United through. I expect no more than 3 goals in 180 minutes.
