Mike check, test 1-2-3 ... I actually have something nice to say about
Jerry Jones.

Too bad there won't be any playoff advancements coming to the new monstrosity any time soon.

GRAPEVINE -- It’s official.

Cowboys Stadium is the official name of the $1.1 billion facility in Arlington, owner Jerry Jones announced Wednesday.

Jones also said there will be no namings rights deal. Jones made the announcement at the team's annual golf outing at Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine.

The stadium is scheduled to open in June.

Cowboys Stadium seats 80,000 and can be expanded to 100,000 for big event such as Super Bowl XLV, which will be held Feb. 6, 2011 in Arlington.

1. Thank you cboy..
even though it was, at best, a back-handed compliment.

It's quite rare that a stadium is not named after a corporate sponsor.

2. Yeah, especially when it's the taxpayers who foot most of the bill and
in comparison the company that gets the naming rights has put in is nominal.

3. How absolutely unoriginal.
Leads me to believe that it will get a corporate name after the recession is over.

6. That's really cool - I hope he sticks with it. The only thing better would be to use
the name to honor some genuinely deserving person...

8. Those would be good choices. Still, even if he won't go that far, I'll give
him credit for a good decision...

9. I don't think you understand.
Or maybe you didn't read the whole article.

Jerry Jones is using a generic name so that he doesn't ruin any corporate sponsorship at a later date.

He is in the hole, big time, for this stadium. And no big-bucks naming sponsor has offered him enough money - yet.

Jones is stupid, but not that stupid.
