Canes and Pens Historical links

Canes and Pens share some odd history

The Carolina Hurricanes are on their way to face the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Eastern Conference finals.

This is a clear violation of NHL rule book which states, "The Canes shall only play the New Jersey Devils or Montreal Canadiens in the playoffs."

The Canes don't have a playoff history with the Penguins (nor did the Hartford Whalers). So this is a new one for all involved, but there are connections, both historical and familial. Here are six links between the Canes and Pens:
