4. Well, since this OP was inspired by you complaining about buying championships...
I'd rather not forget about the money. It seemed important to you before.

12. Well that's because he's using a sour grapes talking point against the Marlins
who were 5th in the league (salaries) in 97 when they won the World Series. You'd think the 4 teams who paid more than the marlins would have won that year.

It's a dumb talking point from ignorant douchebags who protest cheerleaders.

3. I wouldn't, but a lot of people accuse teams of "buying" championships.
I would think that any fan of a any team would love an ownership that spends as much as they can within the rules of whatever league it is. So where does the "buy" stuff come from. Jealousy? Misdirected anger at a setup that allows for such a disparity? I suspect the former rather than the latter.

Even when the Red Sox sucked I never accused Steinbrenner of buying a championship. Hell, I wanted an owner that would actually spend money. I wasn't mad at George, I was mad at the Sox owners for not doing the same. For years the Bruins owners were stingy as Hell, and only until recently when the competition for the town's sports money got tougher due to other team's success did they figure out they had to spend to compete with the Pats, Sox and Celtics. We now have 4 very competitive teams, and I'm grateful for it. I suspect anyone would be.

So will the ones who make this claim be consistent and vote for the "same" or "less"? Maybe now that they see this post by me they will, but I bet inside they're dying for the owners of the teams they root for to spend the money to field a competitive product.

5. Are you kidding?
I wish the Lerners (owners of the Nats) would spend a little more money on the team...Except to it a little more wisely than Danny Boy Snyder who is the poster boy for proving that spending alot isn't necessarily going to get you a championship

6. You got to spend wisely....
That's why I don't own a sports team and will be eating canned cans for dinner. :)

Snyder is like Neil Smith, who did the same with the NY Rangers. You can't just try to sign all the best players and totally ignore chemistry, no matter how good it looks on paper.

and a dozens of others stars leave Cleveland for MORE money how would you expect me to answer?

7. About the same, if they had spent more, they would have got Texeria...
...but it's obvious he's built in the A-Fraud mode...and since Boras is his agent, there's gonna be steroid revelations soon.

8. Irrelevant question. The real answer is a salary cap that has a minimum/maximum
cap. Essentially what the NFL has, so that there are not wild extremes in what teams can spend on talent.

Parity is the goal.

9. That's why I didn't specify any one sport itself.
This is just a general question about the teams someone roots for personally, and whether or not they would like those team/s to spend more money if they could.

I agree with your point, it just wasn't what I was really asking. :)

10. Well then the general answer would be no, because the hypothetical
question does not work, as exhibited by MLB.
