Washington wins college softball world series!
They upset #1 Florida, beating them 2 games to 0.

If Michigan can't win, I'm glad it was Washington (and glad Florida didn't win). However, it always cracks me up what they call their female athletes: the Husky Women.

4. The NCAA has got to stop this 'lady' shit. And it's stoooopid that women are relegated to soft/slow
ball and cannot play baseball.

And it's absurd the players in the field do not wear hats.

5. I agree; I don't know why they can't just be the Huskies, too
On the other hand, I like fast-pitch softball. It's a good game and you have to be a good athlete to play it. The dynamics are so different from baseball - it's so much about pitching. It's amazing to me to see those pitchers go two games in a row on the same day - apparently, the pitching motion is not as hard on your arm as it is in baseball, so they can go day after day.

7. Half the women in DC are wearing ballcaps of some kind and the NCAA doesn't want women in softball
to wear them? I wonder why?

10. 'Lady' Monarchs. Is Queen Elizabeth a 'lady' monarch? It's almost uniformly a southern thing. nt

11. True..and in a way it's sort of degradiung because you don't say Gentleman Vols
because you assume the Vols are male unless stated otherwise.

13. Yup, you assume athletes are male, so you have to distinguish when
they're female.
