3. It's only fitting that Johnson would get his 300th in a Giant uniform
after all, the Giants have a rich history...and now Johnson can say he got this historic victory wearing the same uniform as the all time career HR hitter.

4. Heh! 55 years of a rich history?
Or were they still in New York at the time?

5. You must be still upset
over the trading of your All Star CF. Yes, the Giants have a rich history...if you throw in their years in NY the Giants have won the most games of any team in the history of organized sports.

Players who have entered the Hall of Fame proudly wearing the SF Giant uniform:

Gaylord Perry
Orlando Cepeda
Juan Marichal
Willie Mays
Willie McCovey

BTW, the Giants swept the Nationals tonight. Your Pirates won too, but obviously ownership has given up on the season, despite what they promised Pirates fans.

7. Only Willie Mays won a World Series with the Giants, 55 years ago.

10. I understand that

but a couple bad breaks (Richardson's catch in '62 and game 6 in 2002) doesn't make the other 4 any less deserving.

How many Hall of Famers have the Pirates produced in the last 50 years? Lets see, Clemente, Stargell...anybody else?

13. Ah, but you don't understand
California, of which San Francisco is the center, is the center of the cosmos. Therefore, San Francisco does not need a a world championship baseball team to be be a world championship city.

Perhaps you are aware that in its glorious past, China celebrated its trade policy with the tribute mission. Once a year, representatives of all nations with whom China was gracious enough to grant trade relations, would come to the Imperial Court bearing trinkets as gifts for the Emperor. The Emperor, in return, would bestow on each trade rep silk clothing, gold, or some other rich product as could be had in the Celestial Kingdom.

I told you that story to tell you this one.

San Francisco has such a relationship and such a ritual with many other cities. We have a particularly special one with that most unpleasant place, Los Angeles. Once a year, in the early fall, Los Angeles sends their trade representatives, called the Dodgers, to San Francisco bearing the best that Los Angeles has to offer -- the fall TV offerings. What garbage that is! Our cosmic city in return gives the Dodgers three games in the standings. That is the true spirit of the Tribute Mission.

6. They were still in New York at the time
They came to San Francisco in 1958. I was six years old. I remember all the "Welcome Giants" banners along Market Street.
