1. I would watch but my wife is hogging the TV
Torturing me with Daisey of Love. I got to watch the Mets vs Phillies earlier on the PC (though no streams tonight).

Such is life when you cede the TV to your spouse.

13. Actually, simplifying it for you, a REAL SPORTS FAN supports the teams
within their own conference when it comes to championship series. Petty grievances are ALWAYS left behind!

The Conference ALWAYS takes preference over petty grievances.

26. If the Red Wings don't pull it off in Game 7 the image of Cleary
missing the breakaway shot against Fleury will be forever etched in my mind. I'm a Flyers fan but I have a lot of respect for the Wings and I absolutely hate the Penguins. I'm a little worried about Game 7 but so far Detroit has played better in Pittsburgh than the Pens have in Detroit, so hopefully that will continue.

34. Cleveland isn't lunch bucket? We're the only "blue" part of this state. No, this just reminds
the people of Cleveland that our "ugly sisters" (Pittsburgh and Detroit) get invited to the prom and we never do.

For a matter of future clarification: I gave up the Browns years ago, I don't care if they fall into Lake Erie, I don't follow the Cavs, but I don't hate them, I just don't give a damn about the whole of the NBA, and I currently don't like the management and most of the players on the Indians.

I always felt the Baltimore rivalry was forced on us from the Cleveland move. Like "oh here! Be rivals with us!".

Fuck you Art Model. You tried to destroy the Steelers Browns rivalry and replace it with Baltimore you greedy son of a bitch? No thanks.

Sure I get into the games, but I'd be just as happy not playing them and playing Buffalo who always felt like they should be more of a regional rival but always for some reason got lopped into the New England region even though they are more of a rust belt team.

43. Meh Rivalries change
Pitt Baltimore has been intense as of late, but it doesn't have a ton of history behind it if you dissasociate them from Cleveland. Even after they became Baltimore it took a bit to have it build up. I'm sure that could easily be replaced back to Cleveland and Cinncinati....and add in Buffalo.

And yeah their terriroties overlap but so does Pittsburgh and Buffalo. Ask anyone up in Erie whether they think Cleveland, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo make natural regional rivals. Baltimore is the other side of the mountains. It belongs with New York and Boston, not with the real cities out here on the Frontier... ;)

46. Geographically, Buffalo and Pittsburgh could be considered rivals.
Edited on Thu Jun-11-09 03:14 PM by madinmaryland
But they really have not had a consistent rivalry over the last 40 years. I suppose it could become that way, but they have never been in the same division together, and Buffalo also has the rivalries with the AFC-East, ironically alot with Miami. And why is Miami in the east.....

Well we could go on and on with this one.

48. Yeah neither have Baltimore and Pittsburgh
Rivalries build easily when you play each other twice a year. Give it 10 years and people would barely remember the Baltimore Pittsburgh games and woudl get fired up over a Buffalo Pittsburgh one...

But yeah it's not gonna happen.

But the tremendous weather differences between Miami, waaaaay down there, and the rest of their division, waaaaay up there, isn't really fair to the Fins. And all those LOOONG flights.
