MLB 09 The Show for PS3. Anyone have it or try it?
I have 07 but the graphics look outdated. The game play seems pretty good but need more time with it. Pitching controls take some getting used to.

Saw 09 at Gamestop and it looks amazing. Anyone have it?

1. I have the XBOX version and the Mets always choke in the game.
Just like real life!

2. In 07 the Giants always finish under .500
Edited on Wed Jun-10-09 07:40 PM by inthebrain
from what I hear the consecutive updated versions of the game haven't changed in that regard.

Just like in real life.

4. The Giants don't always finish under .500 .. they have recently,
but in fact, the Giants put together one of the best records in Major League baseball dating back to the mid-1990's through the early 2000's.

Upton has the stat I'm sure.

Yet something else inthebrain is wrong about.

5. As you scratch and claw for relevance
The Giants have been finishing below .500 for what? Five straight seasons now?

Now you wanna talk about past history?

The Mets have more World Series wins since their inception to the league than you do since 1954.

Giants = 0 for 55.

6. Every time I raise a new, interesting issue that shows the Giants are not
anywhere as bad a franchise as you're trying to portray, you bring up the same boring talking point that the 5-time World Champions haven't won a ring since 1954.

That's old news.

7. No itt's not. It's current
It's a streak that lives to this day. 55 years and no world series. Not even one in San Francisco. The only times they won WAS AS A NEW YORK TEAM.

Those world series were not won when they represented the city of San Francisco. You don't have ownership of them.

Nice try to wipe it all under the rug. Keep diggin!!!!!!

9. Sorry, but we do have ownership of them because the Giants are one
franchise.

As you see, the NY Giants retired numbers are clearly visible at AT&T Park.

The number of World Series we've won are also listed at the stadium.

We embrace our rich history from New York, including the thrilling shot heard around the world against the hated Dodgers. We are proud to be the Giants franchise.

If you go to Cooperstown, they don't have all of the NY and SF Giants information separate. It's one franchise, one of the greatest histories in baseball.

With the most wins, in fact, in MLB history.

Tell me again what the Mets have done, besides losing the most games in one season.

10. You're right cboy I do have the stat
from 1997-2004 the Giants averaged just over 92 wins a year, with a high of 100 in 2003.

Doesn't sound like a "Sub .500 for life" team to me.

11. Love it.
Hitting is next to impossible, but it should be. Some time in batting practice helps, as does playing the Road to the Show mode until you figure it out.

12. Sounds simialar to 07
I'm not used to using a controler so it's taking me a bit of time to get both my thumbs to work in unison.

The pitching is a bitch. I had the older ones from eight years ago and dont recall them being this hard. Seems like the umps don't call strikes that strictly either.

09 looks amazing. I wanted to pick it up but don't want to spend the $55. Gamestop still has 08 retailing at $40.

13. The umpires are pretty strict with the strike zone in '09
They call the high strike slightly more than the real ones do, but they're programmed to use the real strike zone. :P

Actually, one of my slight complaints about the game is that there isn't enough variation in the umpires - some of them should give pitchers the extra few inches off the corners, and it doesn't seem like they do (even though there is supposed to be a difference between one umpire and another). On the other hand, if you're used to pitches that go exactly where you want them to go, every time, that's not going to happen in '09. Just like real pitchers, sometimes you hit the spot, sometimes you miss. And once the other team strings a couple of hits together, you're going to start missing more and more often.

14. Someone from Gamestop told me EA is bringing back their baseball franchise
I didn't know the MLB franchise was Sony's.

EA made some pretty decent ones a few years back. They broke away from the arcade feel of the game to more of a simulation. I hope the next one combines a little bit of both. I miss the HR graphics from the older games.

For NHL franchise it took them forever to finally do something for the hat trick.

Hopefully with EA back it forces Gamestop to reduce the price of the previous years games to lower than $40. You used to be able to pick those up for $10 after the newer one came out. Mainly because the rosters were outdated.
