calling young DU writers -- 9/11 book project seeking submissions
(apologies if you've seen this already -- cross-posted at the Lounge and the DU Sept 11 forum)

This memo was distributed by my workplace, and since it said "please circulate widely", I figured that I'd pass along the information to those who may be interested.

It's being run by a group called Global Word Web (out of the University of Alberta). They are requesting submissions from people currently enrolled at universities, aged 18-25. (I'm too old and am not a student anymore, but I know that there are lots of DUers who meet the criteria.) Here are the details ...

"What has your life been like since 9/11?

Global Word Web is putting together a collection of writing on the
post-9/11 era, and we want to tell your story. This book will be a
varied and balanced look at 9/11 and its impact as told by youth.

GLOBAL WORD WEB PROJECT

WHAT: A book of approximately 100 creative writing and think pieces on
the post-9/11 era
WHO: Submissions are invited from global youth ages 18-25
WHEN: Deadline for submissions is January 20, 2005
WHY: An opportunity to have youth writing published, as well as a
chance for global reflection and dialogue through the literary medium.

PRIZES FOR TOP SUBMISSIONS:

Winners will be blindly selected by the Editorial Board and announced
March 2005.

#1 winner: $50 US
Honourable mention: $25 US"
