Two of my poems about Nature.
Background: Both of these poems come from the same source, namely me going down to a place by Lake erie where I like to relax, unwind, read, or simply observe and be amazed by how wonderful nature is. They're not very long, and I guess in a lot of ways they're the same poem. *Deep breath* Here goes:

My Place by the Shore

When I was young
At moments, my fears, my desires, my problems
Would take over my soul
And from them there was, it seemed, no escape.

At these times I would go
To a place by the shore
To hear the waves lap, the sand shimmer, the breeze soothe
And my fears, my desires, my problems
Would slip away
As Nature’s touch would feel, caress, and soothe
Until I was at peace one more

Now, I am older
But my age has brought no relief
Times still occur when by fears, my desires, my problems
Wash over my soul, plaguing me with doubt

At these times, I remember
The place by the shore
And there I will go
To watch the waves gurgle, the sand gleam, the breeze console
And my fears, my desires, my problems
Still float way
As Nature’s touch probes, embraces, strokes
Until I am at peace once more

When I am even older than I am today
There will still be times
When my fears, my desires, my problems will fill my soul
And slowly drive me insane

At such moments, I will remember
That place by the shore
And there I will head
To watch the waves cascade, the sand sparkle, the breeze lull
And my fears, my problems, my desires
Will drift away
As Nature’s touch unburdens, reassures, heals
Until I am at peace once more

One fine day, I will go to this place on the shore
And to my fears, my desires, my problems
I will never return
Nature will soothe, embrace and heal me
In aeternum

Where the Sea meets the Sky

Often, I go to a shore
where I can see the lake, and feel
the wind’s breath on my face
the waves’ sound on my ears
the water’s sight on my eyes

There, I see the place
where the sea meets the sky
and the two elements meld
rippling magically

I wonder what is out there
where the sea meets the sky
what mysterious realm exists there
what creatures roam its invisible paths
what shifting landscapes one could view

Some day, I will
get up and leave the shore
and walk across the water
floating quietly

And if you want to find me
after I’ve gone, just look
to where the sea meets the sky

I stand open to criticism. Thank you in advance.
