Voices of Women- standing in solidarity against activist judges.
With the nuclear option and fillabuster on the line, all over the appointment of radical activist judges ready to turn the calendar on women's rights and reporductive freedoms back to the begging of last century, the voices of women serve as a reminder why we must all stand in solidarity together. To flinch is to turn our backs on our sisters.

Your Voice, Your Choice: Read Women's Stories
<http://naral.org/takeaction/womens_stories.cfm>

Sally talks about how she was able to avoid getting pregnant after a terrifying rape by using emergency contraception in the emergency room - and how it's shaped her opinions on choice ever since.
<http://www.prochoiceamerica.org/takeaction/womens_story08.cfm>

Katie shares her story about what happened to her and her classmates when her school only taught abstinence.
<http://naral.org/takeaction/womens_story05.cfm>

Sondra describes the agonizing decision she faced when she received abnormal test results during her pregnancy.
<http://naral.org/takeaction/womens_story06.cfm>

A young woman in Ohio experienced first hand how a restrictive state law and a conservative judge made it almost impossible for her to exercise her right to choose.
<http://naral.org/takeaction/womens_story03.cfm>

Emily talks about how important it was for her to have the choice to use emergency contraception.
<http://naral.org/takeaction/womens_story04.cfm>

One woman in New Jersey talks about how she had to endure anti-choice protestors after making the difficult decision to end a much-wanted pregnancy.

2. Thanks you. I am so upset and so concerned.
It really bothers me when there is a poll here at DU about whose "rights' should be sacraficed for the greater good of the left and people actually vote women. I just can't understand it. So, I thought posting the voices of women might help reconnect some to our cause.

Thanks for reading.

3. Women, not government, should rule their own bodies
Bush hasn't yet made this country into a theocracy, as much as he wishes it.

4. It's everywhere, and it scares the hell out of me
The University of Wisconsin system is trying to pass a resolution forbidding health centers from dispensing emergency contraception. Whats even worse is that the language of the resolution leaves all other preventative measures open to attack. We need better blue print policies!!!

5. What surprises me is the Choice and Reproductive Freedom group isn't a
more popular thread. Now is the time it should be bustling.

8. You can say that again !!!
I'm just reeling with anger, anguish, betrayal, disbelief, disgust, dismay, hey I could probably go through the entire alphabet.

Heck, tonight a guy told me that I was sexist for saying that I think the reason more men aren't getting it, is because they might not be aware of all the Reproductive Rights that are already being banned, legislated or on the table. :eyes:

And then another told me that women are where they are today because of women ! :grr:

Come on down to the Pennsylvania Forum and see what I'm up against, anytime sista's.

10. Oh ???
I'm a bit obtuse ... do you mean links to who said that?

It was at a local Meetup tonight (Crawford County Meetup for Change) so I had the privelage of being bashed in person.
My second meeting and I ain't too impressed so far :eyes:

But it gets kinda fuzzy here whenever I mention that I cannot support Bob Casey Jr. because he opposes Women's Rights.

Now, if you are looking for a real challenge -- looky, what I stumbled onto late last night, while I was searching for info on tonight's meeting on the DFA Message Baord -- 5th post down, Tomkuna... This guy's a real charmer :eyes: :

Still working on an angle for this one -- but honestly, I sometimes have trouble finding the strength -- :puke:

12. I would be very concerned about your local DFA if I were you.
This aborted fetuses would save SS is something that I have seen cited on freerepublic. That is nuts. It seems that the fundies are attemptin a coo along the lines of what they tried on the Sierra Club.

I'd be contacting higher ups and reporting what is going on. This is not Democratic ideas.

Be strong and take your organization back from these fruitcakes.

13. Well ,
To be more clear...

The 2 knuckle-draggers that I spoke with in person tonight, are with the local Meetup. I was "warned" by the group's founder, prior to my first meeting, that the group had "pretty much resigned themselves to supporting Casey" because, well hell - everyone HATES Santorum and they didn't realize that they had any other choice.
Fine. We all need to stick together, and there is much work to be done otherwise. But you can't get away with talking crap, without me putting up a fight folks!

Now, that Tomkuna guy (did you see his picture?) posted on the new National DFA board -- I just saw that and flipped. I am working on a response.
I think that I read that he plans to run in IL as a Rethug, and that he just chimed in on The Original Post which was the same old same old that I have encountered here on Kos and just about everywhere:

"We need to push ya Ladies and Gays out the back of our Big Tent cuz we need to win. So please just shut up, don't worry no one will let Roe fall. (as if that's all I am concerned about,) and hey what's better, Rick Santorum?" :eyes:

I am not a "one-issue" voter but this is a losing strategy. And I will not compromise anyone's rights - ever. That's what separates me from the Rethugs in the first place! :grr:

6. Can you get us the email address and phone #'s of
the University? We'll let them know our thoughts.

It is a Bush thing that rape centers do not tell rape victims that there is preventative steps to stop a pregnancy from rape.

7. I'm not sure of the adress but there is an action alert
about it on NARAL Pro-choice Wisconsin (Day of solidarity against the UW birth control ban). The bill in question is state assembly bill AB 343. It's a scary world ladies!
