Swiss people to vote on new cannabis laws in a couple of years

If you want to read some history on the Swiss situation, the Switzerland threads at HempCity are the best place to look- http://hempcity.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=10 This is significant because it is the first time an entire country gets to vote on changing the cannabis laws. The bad news is that the vote will not be anytime soon as in possibly two years from now. Cannabis might not be sold in the wide open, but I have read accounts of it being sold openly. The law certainly does not continually go around tracking down smells. Cannabis lobby rises from the ashes

A group of politicians and drugs experts is making a new attempt at decriminalising cannabis in Switzerland.



Eighteen months after parliament threw out a similar plan the committee has collected enough signatures to force a nationwide vote on the issue.

"Our aim is to decriminalise cannabis consumption under strict rules, and encourage parliament to draft its own compromise solution," parliamentarian Ursula Wyss told swissinfo.

She says it makes no sense to treat the estimated 500,000 regular or occasional pot smokers - from all walks of life - like criminals.

Switzerland: Signatures for reform
On 13 January an initiative for the reform of the drug laws intends to hand in to the government 135,000 signatures in support of a referendum. 100,000 valid signatures are needed. The initiative aims at legalising possession, purchase and cultivation of cannabis for personal use. Furthermore, the lawmaker shall enact regualtions for the cultivation and trade with cannabis. Its the drugs war boiled down to common sense, and i'm happy to see some.
I think i'll even visit zurich this year to celibrate their dream of liberty.

People who smoke cannabis should only visit and do tourism in nations where
cannabis is legal. Then they will realize how much money they are losing.
