Judge Robert W. Sweet, Southern District, NY, -

- is an outspoken critic of the the drug war, a vigorous opponent of marijuana prohibition, a supporter of NORML and a member of L.E.A.P. (Law Enforcement Professionals Against Prohibition). Shortly after Presidential candidate Bill Clinton made his famous, "I didn't inhale," comment, Judge Sweet said, "America will know it has an honest President when he or she proposes an end to marijuana prohibition." Sadly, it seems the role of honest President has not yet been filled.

George Bush's drug czar, Barry McCaffrey, plainly reflected the character of his boss; brusque, inarticulate and arrogantly authoritarian. Barack Obama's drug czar, Gil Kerlikowske, is a reflection of his boss's more urbane disposition. Like Obama, Kerlikowske puts forth a calm, friendly, inoffensive manner, which, like his boss, is deceptive. The following is excerpted from a recent L.E.A.P. bulletin:

Sadly, that visionary approach and insight has not yet fully permeated American leadership in the White House. Although he once described the war on drugs as an "utter failure" and advocated a public health approach to drug control, since taking office President Barack Obama has stopped short of engaging in a discussion about legalizing and regulating drugs and has backed away from his previous support for marijuana decriminalization. In fact, the Obama drug war budget is basically the same as the Bush administration's, with roughly twice the amount of funding dedicated to law enforcement as is dedicated to treatment programs. Further, the Obama administration's Drug Czar, Gil Kerlikowske, claimed there is no scientific consensus supporting medical marijuana, and supports the classification of marijuana as a "Schedule I" drug, meaning it is highly addictive and of no medical value.

I am sure this deceitful bastard would not issue such a brazen lie if it wasn't cleared from the top. So it's obvious that in addition to being bought by the banks Obama has sold a piece of himself to those industries whose bottom lines would suffer if marijuana were legally available. And this is exactly what Judge Sweet was talking about.
