Alumna sues college because she hasn't found a job
http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/08/03/new.york.jobless.graduate/index.html

<snip>
In her complaint, Thompson says she seeks $70,000 in reimbursement for her tuition and $2,000 to compensate for the stress of her three-month job search.

As Thompson sees it, any reasonable employer would pounce on an applicant with her academic credentials, which include a 2.7 grade-point average and a solid attendance record. But Monroe's career-services department has put forth insufficient effort to help her secure employment, she claims.

4. Love the last lines of this story.
Asked whether she would advise other college graduates facing job woes to sue their alma maters, Thompson said yes.

"It doesn't make any sense: They went to school for four years, and then they come out working at McDonald's and Payless. That's not what they planned."

Honey, you don't have a job and you don't have a clue.

7. Maybe it's because she's clearly a psycho?
Why why why do all those people with 4.0s get jobs and I don't?

9. Several years ago I read a very angry LTTE from a mother who blamed the state because her daughter
could not pass a state high school exam and would therefore be unable to go to college and become a professional like a lawyer or physician.

10. Sounds like someone would have been better suited
going to a trade school.

College isn't for everyone, and she clearly didn't benefit from her 4 years of study.

11. Awwww, poor thing
I spent four months after getting an undergraduate engineering degree finding a job, delivering pizzas in the meantime.

I spent six months after my master's degree, working temp jobs that sometimes resulted in me crying myself to sleep because of depression.

It's not the school's fault you can't find a job, dimwit. Do what the the rest of us had to do and find something to hold you over. 2.7 GPA and "solid attendance"? If I were hiring, that wouldn't even warrant a second look at the resume, if that's all she's got.

12. This suit should be obvious as to WHY this young lady
isn't getting a job! 2.7? WOW. NOBODY CAN FIND ANYONE WITH THAT KIND OF BRAIN POWER!

I must admit that I laughed out loud at this for five minutes.............. the fact that she brought suit and is so eager to show the world how stupid she is, well, priceless.........

13. It's even worse than that
" Her complaint adds, "The office of career advancement information technology counselor did not make sure their Monroe e-recruiting clients call their graduates that recently finished college for an interview to get a job placement. They have not tried hard enough to help me."

She suggested that Monroe's Office of Career Advancement shows preferential treatment to students with excellent grades. "They favor more toward students that got a 4.0. They help them more out with the job placement," she said."
_____________________________________________________________________________________

She thinks people should be calling HER just because she finished school, who she hadn't even applied with?

Well, it is true the good jobs have been sucked out of the United States in large part already, and college graduates are not going to be guaranteed a job that needs their college degree. Being $70,000 in debt and having to work low-wage jobs does not sound like an awful lotta fun to me.

I am afraid she is soon to fall on her arse and learn that her delusions of being born with a silver spoon in her mouth are simply delusions.

They really oughta teach kids in college that Life Ain't Fair -- so they won't be so offended by real life when they get out and have to face it.

14. Good Degree, but no sense.
"bachelor of business administration degree in information technology."

Good degree, but the little idiot forgot to get work experience while going to school. Jobs prefer people with experience and perhaps she should realize that once you leave school you have to root, hog, or die! Why doesn't she do waitressing, in a bar, nightclub or restaurant? I'm a cocktail waitress and I have spent the past couple of years building business contacts. I have partnerships with quite a few small companies and I don't even have a degree. Now, when I do get one, I'll have enough on my resume to sustain me and keep me going. Then there are certifications that tella possible employer right on your resume that you know how to do what you are applying for.

Suing your school will accmplish nothing and scare possible employers away because they don't want sue happy employees. No wonder businesses are leaving and I wonder if colleges will start shutting down to avoid being sued by dolts like her.

15. I agree
Eventually this silly lawsuit will be thrown out because the student was being irresponsible. The 2.7 GPA says it all.
