I Just Got Done With A Week Of SmartBoard Training
I'm getting one soon. I will be teaching a 3/4 split this year. I love it! Anybody here have one in your classroom! Lots of work, but worth it!

1. We had them at Sprint when I was there. People used to draw on them with permanent markers meant for
paper flip charts.

14. I Heard A Remedy For That Was . . .
Drawing over it with dry erase markers and then using dry erase cleaner to get rid of it. I saw a demo. It worked.

Tell me......I need to know. What are the best parts and the worst parts? We just had major budget cuts and probably will not get them anytime soon. Middle school with 40+ kids is unbelievable...... I want to live through everyone else who has a smartboard.

The governor wanted to cut our salaries 6-10%. Thank goodness for unions. We will try to do more with less.

17. I've had one for several years....
It's pretty cool but I don't use the Smart software all that much. I know I could do more with it but I kind of feel the need to actually teach, too. Sometimes technology gets in the way, sometimes it's a great tool. There needs to be a balance.

I once said something like this before and one of the responses was something like "well, I think for people over 30 technology might be a hurdle they have to get over. It might be too hard for them." OMG. I am a techie, been one for years.

same thing different brand. Just went through 2 days training. Lots to process but there is a lot of potential there. I'm in Wisconsin, too. PM me if you wish and we could share thoughts, etc.

Apparently someone wrote a grant, and I'm one of 4 lucky people at my school who will be trained, and have a "smart board."

It would be good to have some sort of idea what it is before I show up to the training later this year. :blush:

21. Reminds me of when I started teaching
The overhead projector was the tech tool that was going to revolutionize teaching. Uh huh.

As I tell student teachers, "A SmartBoard plus all-lecture-all-the-time is about as innovative as a slate and chalk."

It's not the technology: it's what good teachers DO with it.
