1,000 citizens marched down the main street in Lawrence, KS yesterday
to protest against closing schools. This is just inspirational. How wonderful to see a community come together like this, and for such a great cause!

Lawrence, you ROCK!!

Lawrence is the home of the University of Kansas and is often called the bluest city in Kansas. :)

Rock Chalk!

2. Why wasn't this on CSPAN? Or MSNBC?

It does not directly serve corporate interests.

9. Nothing in the KC media but the Lawrence and Topeka TV stations covered it
Lawrence is 40 miles west of KC. They don't always get coverage in KC. Well the basketball team is covered. And that's only fair since they are #1. (Go Jayhawks!)

I found it on Facebook. Thank goodness for the intertubes.

And seriously, Lawrence has a population of maybe 80,000. So this is just phenomenal. But as I said, it is a very blue city.

11. Lawrence is just an awesome city
They had a gay mayor. They also decriminalized possession of small amounts of marijuana (in KANSAS!!).

And we have several great DUers in Lawrence. :patriot:
