Online ordering is now available for educators interested in obtaining a free copy of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s latest Teaching Tolerance film – Bullied: A Student, a School and a Case that Made History.

Bullied tells the story of Jamie Nabozny, a student who stood up to his anti-gay tormentors and filed a federal lawsuit against his school district. The suit led to a landmark court decision finding that school officials could be held accountable for not stopping anti-gay abuse.

The film and accompanying educational guide offer lessons for both students and educators, showing viewers that anti-gay bullying is wrong. It will help students recognize the harm caused by bullying and help teachers and school administrators understand their responsibility to help stop the harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) students.

1. You actually posted something that I can recommend.
"Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun."

2. I think that is fine and good
but we should also be promoting self-defense. Sometimes a good lesson for school bullies is a good old-fashioned ass whooping.

4. I'm all for bullies getting ass-whooped but....
... not everyone is capable, even w. martial arts training, of delivering the whooping. Kids like that have a right to learn in a civilized , safe environment also. If the environment's not safe and civilized, it's up to the grown-ups to make it that way.

5. While I believe in being able to protect yourself
the phrase "giving an old-fashioned ass whooping" doesn't enter into it. However, if, in the course of protecting yourself . . . seriously, though, eradicating bullying is the answer here and empowering individuals and groups to stand up for each other.

Beating people up who are probably being beaten at home is not the answer really.
