Some of you may know this, but my husband is a born-again Christian.

He had a quadruple bypass in 2006 and an implanted defibrillator and he is now a born-again.

I am a practicing Catholic, so I didn't feel the need to be born again.

He's quite thrilled about this; his reconnection to Christ. He reads the Bible a great deal and goes to a different Church than I do.

I'm okay with it, he's happy, so it's not a bad thing.

One thing he isn't happy about is Warren speaking at Obama's inauguration. He voted for Obama, even though he was the only one in his Bible Study to do so, primarily because of the one issue of Pro-choice. He actually stood up in one meeting and declared that the RW was NOT the party of pro-life because of their stance on the war, that they had had 8 years to do something about repealing R v W and they'd done nothing because they prefer to call us baby killers.

Winning hearts and minds one bigot at a time. LOL.

Anyway. I just wanted to share that with you. We have many gay friends and are very disheartened by this. (Well, you knew that about me; I'm just telling you about Mr. Midlo, who is not a DUer and frankly doesn't understand my addiction, LOL)

I *know* what precipitated it. We were told he probably wouldn't come off the bypass machine and prior to that, he didn't have the depth of faith I do.

I'm happy for him, but I'd be happier if he didn't always have to play 'Six degrees of separation and connect everything to the Bible'.

i too am finding my local church a wonderful place to go.. and my church embraces me entirely... not all christians are bigots.... thank-you!

Sometimes it's easy to forget that not all born-again Christians are like Warren. A few are actually more open-minded like your husband. I doubt my mom, also a born-again Christian, even knows or cares who Warren is. She runs in slightly different BA circles.
