College Board Member Calls Gays On Campus 'A Shame'

A member of the Maricopa Community College board says he will not apologize for saying that the presence of gay activists on campus is quote: 'a shame.'

Jerry Walker confirmed for The Arizona Republic a report in the Mesa Community College student newspaper that he asked student Nate Yazzie if a rainbow flag flying at a campus event belonged to a gay group.
When Yazzie answered yes, Walker says he called it 'a shame' that they're out there.

am awaiting the detailed explanation from Walker. Why is it a shame?

Guess the assumptions are that :eyes: gays should be miserable and in the closet and quaking in fear. After the gays are all back in the closet I'm sure it will be a shame that minorities can be seen mixing with white students. It's a shame they're out there. And the Jews. Don't forget the Jews!

dumb shit, what about NOT promoting discrimination, hate and bigotry at taxpayer expense? Shame he fought in wars and was disabled to protect the rights of ALL Americans, seems like he's forgotten that it wasn't only for those who agree with the Baptist theocracy

Oh yeah and, gays have lives, not lifestyles. Or is there a "straight" lifestyle I haven't heard about?

That isn't important. What is important is the Straight Agenda. A secet group on the right that wants to turn all people straight, worship a false God (Bush), and vote a certain way. It can't be allowed.

6. I wrote to him. They have a nice semantic thing going, people like this.

They get around "God made us in His own image" by saying its a choice. That way, they don't have to deal with the truth that God made us all the way He wanted us to be. They can abuse if they believe people choose without thinking they will get swatted by God.

I outlined why his comments were offensive and ignorant, and requested his resignation, since he obviously doesn't understand the concept of public education being for anyone, not just for those who share his ideology.
