(His dad kept tabs on his e-mail account)
His parents are sending him somewhere to be "re-programmed"

I cant even imagine what the poor kids going through.

My neighbors kid that is 14 just came out as well... to very different circumstances - not one person had a problem with it. I can't wait for the day thats true of all GLBT youth.

8. I don't even know how old he is...
He asked my cousin if he could e-mail me some questions about my experience with coming out but his dad got to him first.

26. He's 15, very bright, and as independent as he can be under the circumstances.
My cousin thinks he will probably 'pretend' to be cured to take the heat off and move on from there.

legalised child abuse. Just wonderful :-(. As long as God gets thrown in, their right to force bullshit down their kids' throats trumphs their kids' right to grow up happy and well-adjusted. If only this could be prosecuted as the child abuse that it is.

I hope he makes it through this with his mind and personality intact. I hope he escapes from the fundie lunatics as soon as possible.

The problem with religion, even moderate religion, is that it supports and justifies the existence of the fundimentalists. The fundies couldn't exist without all the moderates acting as approving buffers, rationalizing and justifying and protecting their extreme brothers and sisters. And then we get shit like these "re-programmers." :(
