PBS Special Highlights Straight TX Teen Fighting For Gay Rights & Sex Ed

"AIDS IS GOD'S CURSE." A child, no more than 9 years old, holds the banner high during an anti-gay rally in Lubbock, Texas. On the other side of the street, gay students protest the school board denying them the right to organize on campus.

Their cause draws legal support, media coverage and an unlikely ally in Shelby Knox, a conservative Christian teenager and warrior princess for comprehensive - as opposed to abstinence-only - sex education.

Not even she could have dreamed her battle would lead her to this place.
