So with GLBTs battling for their civil rights across this land....
Just when will we hear anything but the chirping of crickets from the White House? Or are we even allowed to broach the subject without being insulted, dismissed or branded as disloyal by some on DU?

Suddenly lost your voice, Mr. President?

1. Obama's not a supporter of gay marriage,
a stance that I found troubling. Still do.

I hoped that he was just sucking up to the fundies and that he was really in favor of it.

I also believe that a giant chocolate bunny will rise from the dead after three days of being buried in that cellophane grass in the big basket........................

2. Yep.
we helped elect him, now we can go to hell. I only post basically here because I am tired of seeing others put down any time they criticise Obama on other forums. The bottom line is that Obama has yet to deliver on even ONE of his promises to us.

3. You think it's a coincidence that he scheduled the OTHER big news story for today.
Announcing a Supreme Court appointment as cover.... how often do you get an opportunity like that?

5. Not often, it's true
Problem is, we on the left are able to chew gum AND walk at the same time. We aren't going to ignore the travesty of Prop 8 any more than we will the travesty of indefinite detention for prisoners of the war on terror. He gets this news cycle but we'll get ours.

BTW, I like his pick.

7. To be perfectly honest...
The thought had occurred to me but I really didn't want to believe this was done deliberately. I really tried to shove the thought to the back of my mind but I also know that the timing of the SC announcement was very carefully planned and that it came at nearly the hour the Prop 8 decision was announced. It certainly gives the appearance that Obama was killing two birds with one stone, as it were -- i.e., making a move that would potentially strengthen his base among women and Hispanic voters, while throwing the GLBT voters under the bus.

Certainly was effective, wasn't it? If it hadn't been for the SC appointment, the Prop 8 decision would have been the headline news for the day. He made sure that didn't happen.

Of course, my partner of 18 years -- who is also of Hispanic heritage -- wasn't fooled but she's always been keen at spotting these kind of political shell games.

9. Everyone in the WORLD knew last WEEK that today would be the Prop 8 announcement
So did the WH....call me what you will, but tinfoil hatter is NOT one of them.

So deliberate you can still smell the stink on it even today.

This ain't my first county fair.

6. Obama made me nervouse ever since Donnie McClurkin
sang at one of his rallies.

I am sorely disappointed in President Obama's policies, or lack there of, with respect to GLBT rights and health care.

8. Obama's absence yesterday reminded me
of Bush on 9-11. He needed to say something -- anything -- that would have been of comfort.

He ducked. All we heard was a mealy mouthed statement from Gibbs.

Even Arnold Fucking Schwarzenegger said something. That is truly pathetic.

I wasn't asking Obama to reverse it, or trash the Supreme Court, or parse the ruling. But, he needed to say something to show the GLBT community he was behind them.

Apparently, he's not behind us.

Bastard!
