Liars and hypocrites, all
So the right says let the people decide about marriage equality, yet in RI, where the people favor equality, there are no calls for a vote. Gee, I wonder why. Our asswipe of a governor threatens to veto any legislation and our legislature dems, who blame their bigotry on their being catholic, are using the asshole governor's veto threat to refuse to bring forward a bill.

So when the people of a state are FOR marriage equality, the anti-civil liberties forces don't want to follow the will of the people. When the people of a state are against civil equality, those same people scream DEMOCRACY, DEMOCRACY! LET THE PEOPLE VOTE!" Like they're some sort of stupid parrot stuck on shrill.

I'm sick of it.

Know what else I'm sick of? Being used by politicians to get elected. Anyone think our current president would have gotten the nomination in the primaries without gay cash and hard work? Yeah, he's better than HRC on gay issues, all right. Just like he promised and all the True Believers insisted. Do I need a sarcasm tag? Really?

John Aravosis and all the other GLBT drum bangers who bought his load of shite in the primaries can suck it. They bought it, hook line and sinker. They believed pretty words from a pretty man over decades of actually doing things for the community from a proven friend of the community.

I know I'm rambling, but I'm really pissed off right now and don't give a shit.

Liars and hypocrites, all! But we already knew that, didn't we?

1. Gavin Newsom for President 2012
That would be change I can believe in.

2. Well, you are just going to have to organize
And work. It just never stops.

We were getting the TransTexas Corridor whether we liked it or not according to the plan of our Governor Goodhair here.

A bunch of extremely disparate groups who would never, ever make bedfellows came together and we've been holding that asphalt version of the Mississippi River at bay (so far). Much to the chagrin of Rick Perry and his road-building, sell-Texas-to-Spain corporate cronies.

Take that anger and get to work.

3. Here's the thing
We have been organizing. We have been working.

There is no way around this. Even if our lily livered, hide-behind-their-religion Dems in the state house actually did pass a bill (our state house is 85% D - 15 % R) the governor would veto it. We can't even get enough dems in this most catholic state in the country to pass the bill with a simple majority, never mind overturn a veto.

We've hit a wall that we're not going to be able to tear down until the next election cycle.

Luckily, it looks like Chafee, who is pro equality and even was WHILE HE WAS A REPUBLICAN US SENATOR) and yes, I know I'm shouting, LOL! Like I was saying, luckily, he's looking to be our next governor, I have no doubt we'll get something passed then.

I'm so fed up with the hypocrisy of "let the people decide" and "up or down vote" and "fierce advocate" and frustrated because there's really nothing I can actually DO about it. And that sucks.

4. I know what you mean
Our little organization just kept getting bigger and bigger until they couldn't ignore us. We had to get enough people who could take turns taking off work and travel to the capitol to be in their legislative faces and offices every damned day. Having to stay on top of who SAID they would help us then stabbed us in the back, getting publicity, fund-raising, rallying. My God, why does it take so much work to do what is right?

Now we have to get ready for the inevitable special session to keep "vital administrative departments" from being sunsetted here that our governor didn't have the balls to mention when interviewed on our right-wing "news" station after the legislative session ended. It just never ends.

5. Yes, and cowards
Because when it comes right down to it they don't have the guts to stand up for what is right against the bigots. It's far easier to tell us to quit whining/screeching/crying/bitching/etc. than it is to tell the sanctimonious asshats that everyone deserves equal rights.

6. I Too Made The Mistake
of believing a politician. I should have known a politician is a politician and nothing more. There are no saviors nor fighters for justice in politics, only those who can get enough cash to get elected.
