We've actually achieved the addition of a LGBT Civil Rights and Activism Group at DU. So what are we DOING?
I for one have tried to get some kind of discussion going about the March for Equality. We are going. Since our marriage in July in Iowa, we have documented proof that our "relationship" is codified. After waiting over 10 years we sort of have that pent up desire to say Ya HOOOOOOO! Who knew it would be so hard to sign your name?!!! We are slogging through all of the name change documentation from federal to the local grocery store. We are excited about going to Washington D.C. for the March. My spouse was there for training
and wants to tour the White House. So we called our congressman and will are trying to get hooked up with a tour since they only take groups of 10.
Where is everyone? Maybe this is the wrong forum. Maybe someone here can point me to a website where activists are taking this march seriously. Hell, we rented a place 8 blocks from the Capitol so we can walk. Room for 6 to sleep in a pinch. We'd love to try and hook up with Lieutenant Dan Choi who wrote "This is a “mandatory formation” for all vets who gave up their service because they could no longer live a lie, or who were hounded out because of who they loved, and for those who support them." My spouse is ex Navy who was discharged because she fell in love with a woman in boot camp.

So I guess I'm just a little disappointed with the lack of enthusiasm here for the March. I try to tell myself that the economy sucks and people are broke. Maybe it has something to do with the 40th anniversary of Woodstock. All those people coming together, ride sharing, hitch hiking , and sharing an experience with like minded people that they remember to this day. I always have wished I was there. I will be in Washington.
