Farrakhan Calls For Unity With Black Gay Leaders
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/09/090805gayBlack.htm

For the first time Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan has met with black gay and lesbian leaders in a bid to resolve differences over the Millions More March.

In a conference call with African American LGBT leaders in Washington, New York and Chicago, Farrakhan called on gays to support the march.

Last month black gay leaders said that even though Farrakhan had invited them to participate in the march and rally, planned for October 14-16 in Washington, they had been shut out from any role in organizing the event and were considering their own march that weekend. (story)

2. Very different tone in that story
... compared to this one from the Washington Blade:

According to Washington, Farrakhan was evasive and non-committal in response
to almost all of the gay leaders’ requests. Rather than offering to allow gay speakers to address the crowd, Farrakhan said he would ask the Millions More executive committee to weigh in, Washington said. When the community leaders asked if they could present the issue to the executive committee themselves, Farrakhan “said no without saying no,” Washington said.

Farrakhan, Washington said, was “passing the buck.”

<snip>

While Boykin said the meeting was historic and a “huge leap forward,” substantive results did not emerge.

“His tone was very conciliatory, cordial and friendly,” Boykin said. “But he
didn’t really commit to do anything.”
