4WD drivers 'fat, homophobic'

FORGET the ads that show fit, rugged, 30-something-year-olds navigating flood plains and climbing mountains in the snazzy 4WDs.

The reality is, drivers of the suburban monsters are often obese, aggressive, intolerant and aged in their 40s or 50s.

A new study has found that city owners of large four-wheel-drive vehicles are less community minded than other drivers, less charitable, more likely to be homophobic and have a low opinion of indigenous culture.

The Australia Institute study has also found they are more likely to use force to get their way.

First I just shook my head in disgust that anyone would actually resort to that as an insult (I may be straight, but sorry to all you freeps out there, I just don't find being called a homosexual insulting), then (just to piss the guy off), I yelled out "Actually, I'm straight, but in your case I'd make an exception handsome." The guy about blew a gasket while I laughed my ass off and drove off down the road :evilgrin:

I think this stereotype is appropriate. If you don't care about the environment, saving energy, and using less than your fair share of our natural resources, you'd be inclined to buy a big SUV. Usually, I just think the owners are trying to compensate for small attributes in other areas of their lives. It all fits the profile.

Pull up next to them and give them the universal SIGN for small attributes.

It's makes them oh-so-cranky! I can't tell you how many interesting hand gestures I've had thrown my way!

Especially when they go racing past me WAY over the speed limit. My response to hand gestures from them: blow them a kiss.

Instead of calling them SUV's I call them PEV's--Penis Extension Vehicles.

Every time I pass a hummer or an expedition or suburban or similar between Ft. Worth and Dallas there is a hard haired drop chinned no neck loose nostril nuclear lipped purple faced angry looking republican grimly driving down the road.

They have this trick they do:

You're in the left hand lane, traffic is moving along at a pleasant 80 mph just on the edge of unsafe driving distance between cars, and along comes Hummer Ass, zooms up on the car next to you and tries to muscle in with less than a car length. Turns purple in face, drops back and rides your bumper yelling and carryin' on like a fool because you didn't let him exercise his god given right to cut you off and show that oval W sticker as irrefutable proof of his stupidity.

Yup. Happens a lot. I even had one try to get in front of me going up the ramp in the parking garage at work, and then get out all purple faced angry and yelling at me for not "seeing" that he was there trying to get around me. I repeated his license plate number back to his face and asked if he wanted me to stop at the security desk on the way in.

They're just freaks. And shitty mean little people.

That was the MAIN thing I noticed when I moved to Dallas. The whole "no leaving a car length between cars" thing.

The first couple of times my mom came to visit me up here, she about freaked. I'd had a very relaxed driving style in Austin, but I had to adapt to tailgating up here. If you don't, someone squeezes in and leaves you even LESS room! I had to explain this to her numerous times. She finally figured it out herself when she came up to visit enough and drove in this mess herself.
