Partner and I are about to embark on an all Gay Cruise
heading out of San Diego for a week on the Mexican Riviera. I have taken several cruises before, but never a gay cruise. I embark with some trepidation. Anyone ever take one?

2. Oooo, have fun.
I imagine they are pretty much like a "straight" cruise, without as much concern for stigma and such. Although it would be nice to look forward to a day where gay apartheid weren't the norm. There'd also be the freedom of knowing that most of the cute ones you might notice are pretty assuredly batting for the home team. Gaydar would be pretty unnecessary. You could just let that part of your brain take a vacation.

5. You'll still have fun...
There's nothing like a gay cruise. The atmosphere is just so laid back. People are happy, drinks are flowing like crazy, and everyone is just enjoying each others company. If it's quiet time alone you're looking for, you'll have plenty of that too.

20. Ugh. Not my idea of fun.
If that's what gay cruises are like you can keep it. I can do that at a gay bar any weekend, for free; why would I pay to go on a cruise to do it there?

6. You MUST give me as many details as possible....
My guy and I are both 50ish. We have a friend our age with an adorable 24 year old partner who ADORES us (what can I say, we love him too). He wants to take us all on a gay cruise and we've just started talking about it. PLEASE let me know how things turn out!

7. Just have lots of fun
My partner and I will go on our 4th Atlantis cruise this coming March. We have always had a fabulous time - and met lots of new friends. You can find ALL shapes, sizes and colors of men (and a small number of cool lesbians too!) who are into all sorts of scenes. So you might find some wild party guys, and others who enjoy finding a quiet space on the ship to curl up and read or play some cards. It's all about YOU choosing your own fun.

And - TAKE YOUR SHIRT OFF when dancing. I have a bit of a gut. But I did...and it was very liberating. :)

Don't worry about it, bud. You are going to be having WAY too good a time to be self-conscious!

And here's my prediction: You will sign up for another cruise.

10. I have nearly a year to get ready for the trip so, hopefully, I can work
on it but, I'm way past caring. I've already found my guy and held onto him fore 17 years. He's the only one I really care about impressing!

13. Congratulations! It really is amazing, considering the cultural
roadblock, that gay relationships work as well as they do.

Nah, we can't be monogamous....We're too busy recruiting their innocent teenage sons to join our lives of vile indulgence!

Actually, nearly all of the extremely homophobic men I've ever known have had absolutely NOTHING to worry about.

19. Oh my........
The Norwalk virus! Oy! I'm kind of embarrassed (but I laugh about it as well) that this sickness originated and was named for my hometown! Hopefully your partner recovered quickly.

16. I've never been on any cruise, let alone a gay cruise
I hope to take one of those Olivia Cruises one day, money permitting.

I am heading up to P-Town for Women's week starting this weekend :bounce:. I've never been there for this event before but my friends tell me it is amazing.

Have a great time on your cruise!

They keep that secret til the last week. The entertaiment looks like fun for the week. We skipped a lot of the straight shows.

21. What a wonderful idea ! ! !
Actually, I...well, have often wondered about perhaps doing something like that...except I was a bit uncomfortable about being middleaged and single, even though I workout and stay in great shape for a man of 50. . .

I'm just not the meat market type at this point of my life...I had one partner for 16 years and when that ended I just haven't been too motivated to date much again. . .so. . .we'd love some details as this unfolds.

I've never been a cruise period. . .

22. doing my first cruise
in Dec - "straight" - going with the family (biological!!) on a christmas cruise. I have friends who have been on all gay and on "straight". they felt intimidated by the "young beauties" on the all gay cruise and were more comfortable on the "straight" and even made some wonderful gay friends on the "straight" cruise. - just their opinion and experience. Your results may vary!

have fun
