Gay marriage gets another ruling in its favor
Little by little, in one court ruling after another, the legal opposition to gay marriage is being discredited.

It happened again Tuesday when lawyers against gay marriage were shot down in federal court after trying and failing to assassinate the character of a judge who had ruled against them.

Vaughn Walker, the former chief judge of the U.S. district court in San Francisco, had ruled that Proposition 8 – California's gay marriage ban – was unconstitutional. "Traditional" marriage lawyers didn't go after Walker on the merits of his ruling. They went after him because it was later learned that he is gay.

So what? Does that mean that African American judges can't rule on affirmative action cases? Or that female judges can't rule on reproductive rights? Or Latino judges can't rule on immigration cases?

2. One thing naysayers completely forget (or just refuse to admit)
On a issue like this, It's all about leadership.

President Obama has failed miserably. Evolving my ass! Try covering his political ass. Yes one issue can make or break a President & this issue is intermingled with several others.

If this issue causes him sleepless nights in the coming election, trust me I won't lose any sleep over his righteous indignation.

4. All about leadership -- as in who appoints the judges?
It has always been my contention that equal rights will never be won at the ballot box; that they will be imposed by our judicial system, because that has always been the case. Politicians can give lip service and pass laws that are either constitutional or not. We will depend on the courts to win the fight. Let's hope they are presided over by judges like these, rather than judges like Anthony Scalia and Clarence Thomas.

I suspect Republicans have a deep understanding of this also, which is why they are fillibustering such a huge number of Obama's appointments. They would like to hold them up until the climate is more favorable, if you get my drift.

3. Yea, if that were a rule than no one could be a judge on this issue because
they'd have to ban straight people from being the judge also.

How ignorant of these people to yell about the judge being gay.

Or that female judges can't rule on reproductive rights? Or Latino judges can't rule on immigration cases?"

The sad part is, they would say yes to all of those. Straight old white men should make all the decisions.
