San Francisco mayoral candidate becomes first gay politician to feature his child in campaign advert

"An openly gay political candidate has released a campaign video featuring his five-year-old daughter.

Bevan Dufty, who is running for mayor of San Francisco, filmed the advert with his young daughter Sidney, who he conceived with a lesbian friend.

The campaign advert, which has received mixed reviews - with some saying it is heart-warming and others labelling it 'exploitative' - is thought to be the first ever to feature the child of a gay candidate.
The advert shows Dufty riding the train with his daughter.

He describes how much she enjoys the experience - despite the crowds and the late arrivals - and how he wants to make the train ride just as enjoyable for those less young and easily pleased"
