Ex-Lesbian: WNBA Star's Coming Out Stems From Sex-Saturated Society
A former lesbian activist who became a Christian says she is saddened but not surprised by Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) star Sheryl Swoopes' decision to announce her homosexuality.

Swoopes, a three-time Olympic gold medallist and four-time WNBA champion, currently plays for the Houston Comets. The all-star athlete, who came out of the closet about her homosexuality to The Advocate and ESPN The Magazine last month, admits she was not born a lesbian but simply fell in love with a close female friend who advised and supported her during a time when her marriage was on the rocks.

Swoopes told ESPN The Magazine that she considers herself a Christian but resents it when people use religious arguments to judge her behavior. The Houston Comets forward's decision to declare her lesbianism has become a much publicized source of concern for some pro-family observers, who fear her announcement could prompt some young female athletes to think their strong feelings for their girl friends should be expressed sexually.

Former lesbian Yvette Schneider works with the ministry "Women Into Sports" and also helps other sports ministries deal with the issue of lesbianism from a biblical perspective. She says Swoopes' lesbian lifestyle is similar to that of many female college athletes who call themselves LUGs, or "lesbians until graduation."

"Former lesbian"? "Ex-gay"? These people are pathetic! If they'd just put their brainwashing aside and get laid once in a while - by their NATURAL choice of partners - the world would be a much better place.

1. "by their NATURAL choice of partners"
The one valid point the woman makes is about the sex saturated society.

Fundies see it as a secret insidious agenda to "convert" (a process they're quite familiar with) their children to homosexuality.

I see the saturation as a natural progression of capitalism. Sexual experimentation has become "cool", thusly Madison Avenue has latched on to it with great glee and zeal. Thus the saturation and obsession with what are normal human biological urges, whether they be hetro or homo sexuality.

In a sick and twisted way, our children now seem to tie their sexuality with what advertising is shoving down our throats.

I have several friends in the GLBT comunity, few of them think this saturation is healthy.

When will the right wake up and realize the threat is right before their very TV glazed eyes, coming directly down from on high from their CORPORATE MASTERS.

2. From a "biblical" perspective?
These people don't believe in nothing from the bible except its use as a persecution tool.

3. Falling in love is damn sure not a conscious choice.
Anyone who can say that clearly lacks experience on the subject. Staying with someone takes choice and work, but falling in love is a completely unreasonable activity. At some point you just have difficulty imagining someone not in your life. I have yet to hear anyone pinpoint when this happens, but it does.
