Oklahoma Man Sues Over Gay 'Wife Swap' Show
(Muskogee, Oklahoma) An Oklahoma man who agreed to take part in the ABC show "Wife Swap" is suing the producers for more than $10 million after the "wife" they sent to his home was a gay man.

Jeffrey Bedford of Haileyville says in his suit that he was "misled" and "threatened" by the producers. The suit names Walt Disney - the parent company of ABC, the network, and production company RDF Media.

Bedford says he became so emotionally distraught that he suffered "physical and mental illness."

Bedford claims that when he told the producers he did not want a "gay wife" they threatened not to tell him his wife's location and would not pay for her to be sent home.

We're not so bad! Most of us don't bite. We're house trained. We don't miss toilet ...

3. where are the repubs bitching about "frivolous" lawsuits now?
Ok, let's get this straight:
behemoth corporations kill and maim innocent people, people seek justice = "frivolous lawsuits"

Homophobe voluntarily signs up to be on show, doesn't like how the show works, might have to acknowledge that GLBT people have families too = Outrage! This man must have his day in court!

4. Loved this part of the article ...
The suit also claims that during the episode when Bedford conducted his regular Bible study at his home for the Haileyville Baptist Church, the gay swap participant invited a gay coalition to take part in the study.

I would have loved to have been the proverbial fly on the wall for that Bible study session!

The guy's lawsuit doesn't stand a chance. He'd have a better chance suing 'cause they sent him a 'wife' that weren't no blood relation! What a moran!

6. If OK has one of those "it's ok to hate gays and but still get divorced"
amendments to <cough> protect <cough> marriage - it would be interesting to see how this plays out.

There's no way the court could give legal standing to the 'wife'

7. Who would ever suspect a reality TV program could be exploitive?
Did he ever watch this show?

Does he even own a television?

8. Lemme attempt to digest this guy's legal argument . . .
.
1.) He volunteered to appear in an exploitive voyeuristic "reality show" . . . where's the morality of his actions here? Oh, it could be argued as immoral? Oh.

2.) The subject matter of this television show is "wife swapping" . . . uummmmm, this is moral?

3.) He's sent a same-sex "marriage" spouse as his "wife swap" and as a result of which he is arguing wha? that he suffered "physical and mental illness" ???

. . . . . .

.

10. I call bullshit.
On this:
Bedford ... told the producers he did not want a "gay wife" ...
If that "gay wife" had been a lesbian, however...

Need I elaborate?
