for those of you who may have never seen "Degrassi" . . .

here's a full recent episode that deals with one of the main characters coming out to his Italian immigrant father . . . the quality's not great, and you'll need broadband, but it's worth a look . . .

if you're not familiar with the show, it originates in Canada and is far more honest about dealing with issues facing teens than anything produced in this country . . . not perfect by any means, but significantly ahead of the pap that American filmmakers generally crank out (e.g. chop-em-up horror flicks) . . . enjoy . ..

1. My daughter is a big fan of Degrassi

And I like that she watches it.
Sometimes I watch it with her, but she hates that, so I dare not make any comments.

She has never listened to any advice from me. So I am always glad when she comes across something that teaches her some of the same lessons I would if she'd let me.

She heard a speech by a local ob/gyn who is very young and credible with teenagers. As a result, she went and got tested for any STDs, and has become much wiser and discriminating. . .

Delgrassi was on Public TV here for a time but I think it disappeared.
