Crotty, a Republican, is under pressure to pass an ordinance to protect gays in the areas of housing and employment.
Orlando, the largest city in Orange County, already has a non discrimination ordinance, passed in 2002 after a long battle, but the rest of the county does not.
For the past two years the Orlando Anti-Discrimination Ordinance Committee has been pushing to have a similar measure passed by the county government.
