Gay Mormon gets real on 'Survivor'
http://www.sltrib.com/ci_3267586?source=rss

In a television reality show based on deception and trickery, a self-described "gay, Mormon, Ivy League grad, wilderness guide" who was born in Salt Lake City is leading this season's "Survivor."
Rafe Judkins, a Brown University graduate who now lives in Providence, R.I., is one of six remaining players to "outwit, outplay and outlast" in the jungles of Guatemala on the hit CBS series, which airs tonight at 7 p.m. on KUTV Channel 2. And in the face of the show's typically backstabbing, conniving gameplay, Judkins is "surviving" with honesty, sincerity and a positive outlook, traits he has in part attributed to his faith.
But his announcement in last week's episode about his sexuality and faith has led many fans of the top-10 show to wonder: Can someone be gay and Mormon?

1. "Whoever thought a gay Mormon would do so well"

or some words to that effect is what Rafe said on the show last week.
He's a really nice guy, and very good at the competitions. I hope he wins.

2. I like him too.
I thought he would do well. Isn't he an outdoor guide or something like that?

11. there were 2 gay guys, right?
What was the other one's name? Brian?

There were also several hunky eye-candy "straight" ones... Blake, Jamie, and my fave, Bobby Jon. Shirtless heaven! LOL

3. I'm a big fan of the show and am pulling for Rafe
I didn't know he was gay until the last episode. He has been either first or second in all the immunity challenges. He doesn't look that athletic, but he may be setting himself up as a threat rather than flying below the radar like he did earlier in the season. GO RAFE!!!

6. The movie "Latter Day Saints" is a great gay film -- and no, you can't...
be gay AND a practicing Mormon. Who the hell would want to?

9. Hehe
I knew he was gay the moment he opened his mouth. I didn't think it was such a big secret anyway. What I'd really like to know is if Bobby Jon and Jamie hit the sheets when they were alone in the jury tent or wherever they put them when they're voted off. LOL.

4. Teabagging? Mormons don't even drink tea.
Contradiction in adjectives! "Mormon-and-gay" is just not a possible combination. Choose one and go with it.

8. i hope he wins too.....
it's so unfortunate that someone who plays the game with integrity almost never makes it to the final three. I'm a huge fan of the show, and cannot for the life of me understand why they haven't chucked stephanie yet. i don't dislike her, but they have to realize that this season has been set up for steph to win, since she came so close last time.

ideally, i would have preferred bobby jon to win, but since he's gone, i'm really pulling for rafe.

10. Me too
I do like Rafe, he seems to be the one with a conscience. Broke my heart last night when he was in tears when he saw his mother and then he didn't even get to hug her! Sometimes that show seems downright cruel. I liked Stephenie last year, and I like her now, but she is getting a little too cocky for my taste. Now that it's just "the girls" left, I am liking Danni more and more. Oh, and I agree... Bobby Jon is tasty and I would have liked him to hang around longer.
