School Board chair admits Web post

Richmond School Board Chairman Stephen B. Johnson last night admitted posting a bare-chested photo of himself on an explicit male-dating Internet site.

"It was stupid," Johnson said, explaining that the photo had been on the site for a "couple of days."

Johnson's photo on Manhunt.net was not explicit in nature, but the text describing him was very graphic.

As of 9:30 p.m. -- about an hour after a Times-Dispatch reporter called Johnson about the Web site -- his posting could no longer be found on the site.

Of course if the "graphic" wording of his personal ad included references to a freakishly large endowment, I'm sure his ad got lots of attention!

Johnson is not married. He owns Stratford Hills Antique Market in South Richmond.

Unmarried antique dealer, huh? Well that explains it! There's just something about chippendale amoires that will turn a school board member gay every time. I wonder if Dobson, Falwell and all know of the dark link between antiques and (gasp!) sodomy? Of sure ... first you're looing at an antique desk wtih federal style legs for your office and the next thing you know you're posting ads on a gay website!

I wouldn't toss him out of bed for eating crackers, but then my expectations are so low I've come to expect "crumbs" in my bed.

I really don't mind exposing LGBT people who are anti-gay or work against our efforts for equal rights... but as far as I can tell... this man is innocent of any of that?

I think it is disturbing that they outted him for what... posting a dating profile? (One that, at worst had him with no shirt on - oh the horror of seeing a 40+ year old man with no shirt on.)

This comes across as gay-baiting garbage to me. Who cares what sites this man is a mamber of or posts to as long as it was on his own time? Someone wants this guy off the school board.
