Can. Province Accused Of Human Rights Violation For Supporting Gay Marriag
http://www.365gay.com/newscon04/11/111204ManMarr.htm

A man employed by the Manitoba government to perform civil marriages has filed a human rights complaint saying he was threatened with dismissal if he refused to marry same-sex couples.

Kevin Kisilowsky alleges that by forcing him to perform gay marriages the Manitoba government is violating the Canadian Constitution's religious freedom provisions.

Following a court ruling in September that opened the door to same-sex marriage in the province (story) the government notified all marriage commissioners that if they refuse to perform wedding ceremonies for gay couples they must resign. So far 11 commissioners have quit.

boo freaking hoo--put him in a corner and let him deal with the straight people when they come in

wonder if he'll bitch and moan when he has non-Christians, or people who have lived together, etc come in to be married

1. The law is the law. Tough shit, Kislowsky.
There's a thing called "quitting your job" if you don't like performing legal same-sex marriages.

I'm sure others will try to pull this crap. And again...if same-sex marriages are legal, you have to perform them. Your religious beliefs don't mean shit.

2. extreme religious views are like a mental illness

there was a "law and order" episode where the defense tried (and failed) to use this defense for a racist who killed someone, but i can't recall the actual case. the gist of the defense: racism is a mental illness.
perhaps this man should apply for disability on those grounds. i am certain he would be as sucessful as the racist was.

3. it's a no brainer
In order to do the job you must exercise certain duties. Don't work at a slaughterhouse if you're a vegetarian. If you decide to become a vegetarian and you no longer want to kill moo cows, then you don't get to keep your job.

If your job requires that you marry people, then that's your job.

It's the same thing with these fucking pharmacists who should all be rounded up and shot. Do your fucking job or let someone else do it for you.

It's very simple.

7. I don't understand these people.

So, Kisilowsky took this job in which he performs civil unions, and he claims that because some homosexual couples come in after same-sex marriage is permitted, he thinks his rights are being trampled? Religious freedom rights? Is the Manitoba government keeping him from going to church? Are they forcing him to marry homosexuals just because they know it's against his religion? Just to piss him off? And Kisilowsky, if you really don't like it, why not just resign like those 11 other asswipes did? What a dumbass!

8. Human rights complaint?
What an irony, a narrow minded religious sap filing a human rights complaint because he wants to violate another person's human rights. This is the problem with the fundie group, they truly believe that their rights are more important than everyone else's.
